A2 Cup final:

Crazy Diamond Segrate – BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte 1-3 (25-21, 18-25, 19-25, 20-25)

CRAZY DIAMOND SEGRATE – BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE 1-3 (25-21, 18-25, 19-25, 20-25) CRAZY DIAMOND SEGRATE: Fabroni 1, Van Den Dries 14, Pesaresi (L), Alletti 7, Pinelli, Botto 8, Russo 7, Baranek 21, Spairani, Preti, Canzanella. DNP Radunovic, Caprotti. Coach. Eccheli.

BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE: Cazzaniga, Elia 8, Ricciardello, Falaschi 1, Castellano 8, Milushev 16, Rodriguez 20, Salgado 9, Maric, Cicola (L). DNP Rinaldi, Torre, Giosa. Coach. Di Pinto.

Castellana Grotte celebrates in Andria. Captain Marco Falaschi lifted aloft the Del Monte Italian Cup A2 2012. A historical trophy, the first for a team of the Puglia region, and won on home soil. Still, it’s Segrate which had got off to the better start by taking the first set. But then, Falaschi orchestrated things perfectly to keep the hands of Milushev and Rodriguez hot. Big factor was the blocking area with Salgado registering four and Elia three. MVP: Israel Rodriguez with 20 points and 63% in attack.

Massimo Eccheli (coach Crazy Diamond Segrate): “We have been defeated by a superb team. We did well to win the first set, shame we made that many mistakes. To play at their level, we should have hit the serve harder and taken more risks in attack. I’d say tonight we did OK, we played at the level we’ve been at recently, we only made a few too many mistakes on the serve”.

Bram Van Den Dries (Crazy Diamond Segrate): “We knew it was going to be a very tough encounter, they did not give anything away. We tried our best and started off brightly, then we made too many mistakes trying to hit the serve hard”.

Vincenzo Di Pinto (coach BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “An extremely important success, and this will give us great confidence for the rest of the season. A prestigious triumph for the club and region, which deserve it for the hard work done in recent years”.

Marco Falaschi (BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “We really wanted this victory which came after a mini crisis. We are extremely happy with our reaction after the first set and with the way we played. Great satisfaction for me and the team, the fans and the club”.
