M. ROMA VOLLEY – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 3-2 (25-19, 20-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-12) M. ROMA VOLLEY: Lebl 11, Passier 2, Paparoni (L), Maruotti 5, Zaytsev 28, Boninfante 3, Bencz 15, Puliti, Cisolla 13, Bjelica 3. DNP Paolucci, Corsano, Sabbi. Coach. Giani.

There was a risk of having the minds already set for Wednesday’s cup clash for Cuneo and Roma. At the end of a thrilling dispute, Roma snatched it at the tie-break. Zaytsev proved key in the fifth set.

Alberto Cisolla (M. Roma Volley): “That’s a great victory against a top class team. Cuneo might not have had an exceptional game, but we did well to make it hard for them. We showed fighting spirit, character, determination and most importantly we played brilliantly as a team despite the many changes and substitutions. This will give us confidence for Wednesday’s cup game in Macerata, and we know all the pressure will be on them”.

Huber Henno (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We’re not playing well in this period. We could have won it tonight, even if Roma did well, determined to get a result. This is a defeat that worries me a bit ahead of the Italian Cup, because we’re struggling to win the games that matter”.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – FIDIA PADOVA 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-14)

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 10, Della Lunga 6, Juantorena 11, Zygadlo, Vieira De Oliveira 4, Sokolov 4, Djuric 6, Colaci (L), Stokr 8, Bari (L), Burgsthaler 4. DNP Birarelli, Brinkman. Coach. Stoytchev.

FIDIA PADOVA: Schwarz 5, Tiberti 1, Cricca 1, Koshikawa, Giannotti, Rosso 9, De Marchi 11, Semenzato 6, Suljagic 4, Zingaro (L). DNP Garghella, Gonzalez, Simeonov. Coach. Montagnani.

Trentino did not have to showcase all its arsenal to win over padova and go back on top of the league. Juantorena MVP.

Matteo Burgsthaler (Itas Diatec Trentino): “The difference between the two teams was rather obvious. We only found difficulties at the beginning because we faced a different line up from the one we expected. Once we settled down, everything went easy and we won with personality”.

Paolo Montagnani (Coach Fidia Padova): “We played with determination for a set and a half. We knew it was going to be difficult today without Simeonov and Gonzalez, who stayed on the bench because of physical problems. The match against Verona will be particularly important and I hope we’ll get both players back for this game”.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA – CASA MODENA 3-0 (28-26, 25-22, 25-18)

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA: Rossini (L), Conte 15, Nikic 11, Molteni, Buti 4, Kaszap, De Cecco 3, Gavotto 9, Shumov 8, Roumeliotis. DNP Ciabattini, Forni. Coach. Zanini.

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Sala 6, Dennis 13, Carletti 1, Kooy 11, Bellei 3, Yosifov 2, Esko 2, Martino 5, Casoli, Anderson 6, Piscopo 3. DNP Catellani. Coach. Bagnoli.

The fact Monza was getting better was obvious from its recent outings. With 4 wins in 5 games, Monza confirmed its good run of form against an excellent opponent like Modena. The two teams will meet again on Wednesday in the Italian Cup. MVP: Facundo Conte

Matteo Martino (Casa Modena):  “They did a great job while we did not play as we should have. Now let’s focus on Wednesday’s game, we cannot afford to play like that at home, we’ll have to make it harder for them. They played well, while we struggled, but we should not worry too much for Wednesday’s encounter, our fans will help us, we’ll surely play better”.

Facundo Conte (Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “I am extremely pleased with this game, this is an important result ahead of Wednesday’s encounter. We also took crucial points for the league table, I am satisfied with the way everyone played. Tonight we proved we could give a game to anyone”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – ANDREOLI LATINA 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-20)

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Popp 6, Kosmina, Ter Horst, Calderan, Meoni 2, Smerilli (L), Patriarca 8, Zingel 7, Casarin, Kromm 10, Gasparini 17. DNP Postiglioni. Coach. Bagnoli.

Great atmosphere as expected with 3800 fans in the Pala Olimpia arena which were pleased to witness Verona’s first sweep at the expense of Latina. Verona scored 8 aces, among which 5 from the MVP Gasparini.

Mitja Gasparini (Marmi Lanza Verona): “After a difficult first set, we did well to get back in it and win it. In the other sets, we improved a lot, especially on the serve. They had to force the serve a bit and made many mistakes. Latina is a similar team to us, this was a real test for us to see where we stand. We are extremely satisfied”.

Daniele Sottile (Andreoli Latina): “The first set cost us dear, it could have changed the course of the game. Verona improved its serving and Meoni’s guidance made the difference once again, making us lose our way in reception and at the net. We made too many mistakes and lost accuracy from the serve”.

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 3-1 (25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 25-20) – COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Sidibé 4, Papi 15, Zhekov 5, Nikolov 16, Kampa 1, Zlatanov 16, Holt 7, Tencati 2. DNP Kral, Massari, De Oliveira, Marretta. Coach. Monti.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lampariello, Pajenk, Savani 7, Exiga (L), Parodi 6, Stankovic 7, Kovar 9, Monopoli, Travica 3, Omrcen 19, Podrascanin 4. DNP Van Walle, Randazzo. Coach. Giuliani.

Monti’s team got off to a strong start in a packed arena and their determination to do well and never give up paid off. Mvp: Samuele Papi.

Vladimir Nikolov (Copra Elior Piacenza): “I am extremely happy with this win, the most important thing is the victory and the three vital points. We got it thanks to our consistency during the four sets. We have been working a lot on that aspect and finally today our efforts paid off. I am extremely pleased to have beaten one of the strongest teams in the league and have taken the three points”.

Exiga Jean-Francois (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “During the sets, we managed to build some 3-4 point leads but did not manage to make it count. This was a very important game for Piacenza which had to play at 100%. They have to get many points to stay up. They have great players, I just can’t understand how they ended up in this league position. As for us, we did not play at our usual standard, we did not deserve to win”.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA – SISLEY BELLUNO 1-3 (25-19, 20-25, 17-25, 25-27) TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Mignolo (L), Serafini 2, Cernic 10, Diaz 15, Grassano, Banderò, Rak 10, Olli, Klapwijk 17, Barone 7, Fanuli (L). DNP Coscione, Nikolov. Coach. Blengini.

SISLEY BELLUNO: Abdelaziz, Fei 7, Horstink 22, Dolfo 1, Farina (L), Kohut 9, De Togni 12, Suxho 3, Antonov 14, Ogurcak 5. DNP Szabò, Curti, Sorato. Coach. Piazza.

Entertainment all the way between Belluno and Vibo. For the second time this season, this fixture was decided on details at the end of a long battle. Antonov found the winning point on a 27-25 fourth set win that gave the three points to Belluno.

Roberto Piazza (coach Sisley Belluno): “I think the points should have been shared today. Vibo would have deserved the tie-break and maybe even to win given the first set in which they managed to make a 15-4 run. I am therefore very happy to come away with the three points here in Vibo, which as I have said many times, is a very tough place to come to”.

Simone Serafini (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “This was a bit of a carbon copy of Cuneo’s game. The difference is that we made a few more mistakes, especially in the second set. In the third we played face to face but they made the difference on a run of serve. In the fourth set, it was close, shame the clutch point did not go our way. Real shame because we’ve been playing good volleyball”.
