Roma Volley-Casa Modena 2-3 (26-24, 25-19, 20-25, 26-28, 16-18)

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA – FIDIA PADOVA 3-2 (25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-12)

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Sidibé, Papi 18, Zhekov, Nikolov 26, Massari 1, Kampa, Zlatanov 26, Holt 6, Tencati 8. DNP Kral, Marretta, Penchev. Coach. Tubertini.

FIDIA PADOVA: Garghella (L), Schwarz 16, Gonzalez 5, Rosso 12, De Marchi 1, Simeonov 21, Semenzato 13, Suljagic 5, Koshikawa (L). DNP Tiberti, Cricca, Zingaro, Giannotti. Coach. Montagnani.

In an unreal atmosphere, with the fans on strike not supporting the team following the news of Lorenzetti’s resignation, Piacenza managed to ground out a 3-2 victory over Padova. MVP: Samuele Papi.

Hristo Zlatanov (Copra Elior Piacenza): “To get this victory we found resources we thought we did not even have. The build up to this game has been very strange. In the past two days we have thought about anything but this game. This was a weird encounter because of Angelo’s absence but I think after all we’ve been through together in all those years, defeats and victories, I think it would be really not correct to dedicate him this win, this is not enough to acknowledge what he’s done”.

Andrea Semenzato (Fidia Padova): “Once again we cannot be totally satisfied. Our weaknesses, our lapses, continue to penalize us. Piacenza deservedly won, our dig and block have not been very effective. Piacenza has not been very accurate at the net, we were aware of it but we did not take advantage, this has been the key to the game”.

M. ROMA VOLLEY – CASA MODENA 2-3 (26-24, 25-19, 20-25, 26-28, 16-18)

M. ROMA VOLLEY: Lebl 13, Passier 4, Paolucci, Maruotti, Zaytsev 31, Boninfante 2, Bencz, Corsano (L), Sabbi 28, Cisolla 12. DNP Paparoni, Antonucci, Puliti. Coach. Giani.

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Sala 14, Dennis 13, Carletti, Kooy 1, Bellei 1, Esko 6, Martino 4, Casoli 2, Anderson 22, Piscopo 15. DNP Catellani, Yosifov. Coach. Bagnoli.

Roma wanted to bounce back after two consecutive home losses but Modena was eager to hang on to its third position in the table. Led by a superb MVP Zaytsev, Roma, which had made three changes in the line up, took a 2-0 lead and even had a match point in an exciting fourth set but in the end it wasn’t to be.

Andrea Giani (coach M. Roma Volley): “We played a good game even if we wasted a match point. Credit to Modena which played great dig. Shame it went like that in the third set with Anderson’s serves which got us out of it. Then we stayed close but just couldn’t clinch it”.

Andrea Sala (Casa Modena): “We won a very tough encounter, on a difficult court against an excellent team. This was a hard-fought affair which Roma could also have won. In the end we snatched it on details, the difference between the two teams was really slim”.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA – ENERGY RESOURCES SAN GIUSTINO 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-21)

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Falasca, Serafini, Cernic 8, Diaz 15, Rak 9, Klapwijk 13, Barone, Fanuli (L), Nikolov 8. DNP Mignolo, Grassano, Banderò, Olli. Coach. Blengini.

ENERGY RESOURCES SAN GIUSTINO: Creus Larry 9, Rauwerdink 9, Patak 9, Mc Kibbin 1, Cozzi 1, Finazzi 3, Petkovic, Tholse, Giovi (L), Sammelvuo, Urnaut 13. DNP Bartoletti, Lo Bianco. Coach. De Giorgi.

Vibo was back on track with its usual fighting spirit, its game, and they obtained a crucial three-point victory in a game that was tight in every initial phase of sets against San Giustino. The arrival of new setter, lined up from the start by coach Blengini, proved a key point to Vibo’s revival.

Luis Diaz (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “I am extremely happy with the victory, we really needed it. We were a bit in trouble after Manuel’s injury but we believed in our chances from the start. We played with good spirit, with maximum focus and we fought for every play. Congratulations to the new setter who hardly arrived but settled in very well”.

Jeroen Rauwerdink (Energy Resources San Giustino): “Vibo did not play an excellent game but was stable, while we have played under par. We partially recovered in the third set but winning it would not have been enough. This was a bad day for us, we came here thinking we could win or at least fight for the win but we did not even come close”.

CMC RAVENNA – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 0-3 (23-25, 20-25, 25-27)

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 7, Bendandi, Corvetta 3, Sirri 11, Tabanelli (L), Verhanneman, Quiroga 7, Moro 15, Brunner 5, Gruszka. DNP Leonardi, Gallosti, Roberts. Coach. Babini.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Pajenk 9, Savani 12, Exiga (L), Kovar 12, Monopoli, Van Walle 1, Travica 5, Omrcen 15, Podrascanin 5. DNP Lampariello, Parodi, Stankovic. Coach. Giuliani.

In a packed arena, the league leaders defeated the hosts of Ravenna, which failed to convert two set points in the third set.

Antonio Babini (coach CMC Ravenna): “We had our chance at the end of the third set but we could not convert and against a team like Macerata you never get a second opportunity. The serve made the difference, in the key moments they hit it hard while we made mistakes. I don’t want to point any fingers at my players because they always give their best in training and in the games”.

Alberto Giuliani (coach Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Intense game and three valuable points, there are no easy games and Ravenna gave their best to make it hard for us. Now we have little time to enjoy the three points and the leadership maintained because we’re playing in Europe on Wednesday”.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 1-3 (25-22, 14-25, 16-25, 24-26)

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA: Rossini (L), Conte 16, Forni 13, Molteni, Buti 4, Rooney 11, Kaszap, De Cecco 1, Gavotto 10, Shumov, Roumeliotis 4. DNP Ciabattini, Nikic. Coach. Zanini.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 20, Birarelli 9, Della Lunga, Juantorena 17, Zygadlo, Vieira De Oliveira, Sokolov, Djuric 8, Stokr 24, Bari (L), Burgsthaler 2. DNP Brinkman, Colaci. Coach. Stoytchev.

The hosts’ lead lasted only one set. Monza got off to good start but Trento reacted immediately and hammered the hosts 25-14 in the second set. Trento went on to dominate the encounter as Jan Stokr was MVP.

Jan Stokr (Itas Diatec Trentino): “The first set did not go well for me, we did not find the rhythm before the second set. Overall, though, this was a good game. In the last set, Monza played well, they did not make many mistakes and made it difficult for us”.

Mauro Gavotto (Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “This was a good game. We played a superb first set, and not bad either in the fourth. We might have made a couple more mistakes on the serve, but we never gave up. We’re disappointed but there’s no shame in losing like that against Trento”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – SISLEY BELLUNO 0-3 (25-27, 23-25, 19-25)

ANDREOLI LATINA: Rivera Caamano 7, Gitto 8, Sottile 2, Jarosz 21, De Pandis (L), Troy, Diachkov, Cester 5, Fragkos 10. DNP Hardy-dessources, Guemart, Tailli, Galabinov. Coach. Prandi.

SISLEY BELLUNO: Abdelaziz 2, Fei 17, Horstink 6, Dolfo 2, Farina (L), Kohut 15, De Togni 7, Suxho 2, Antonov 2, Sorato (L), Ogurcak 6. DNP Szabò, Curti. Coach. Piazza.

In Latina, Belluno took all the points at stake with a three set victory. The guests turned things around in the first set after a better start from Latina. MVP: Fei.

Silvano Prandi (coach Andreoli Latina): “The team that played better volleyball won. They made it difficult for us with their serve. The first set in which we lost the lead might have been decisive. Credit to the winners”.

Alessandro Fei (Sisley Belluno): “We did a very good job on the serve and at the net. Beating Latina in its own gym is no easy task, we made it with three crucial points for us”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 26-28, 25-19, 15-9)

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Popp 13, Kosmina, Ter Horst 10, Calderan, Meoni 1, Smerilli (L), Patriarca 10, Zingel 21, Kromm 9, Gasparini 26. DNP Casarin, Postiglioni. Coach. Bagnoli.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Mastrangelo 2, Henno (L), Ngapeth 20, Fortunato 9, Wijsmans, Vissotto Neves 7, Grbic 2, Caceres 15, Patriarca 8, Rossi 4, Baranowicz. DNP Van Lankvelt, Pieri. Coach. Gulinelli.

In front of 2126 supporters, Verona had a brilliant game. They won the first set and managed to clinch the fourth after two dominant sets from Cuneo. Ter Horst showed the way in the tie-break, then Gasparini and Zingel helped Verona to a 5-1 lead. Verona would never look back. MVP: Gasparini.

Mitja Gasparini (Marmi Lanza Verona): “We have finally won a tie-break. We had had good performances against Modena and Macerata but couldn’t win. Today we proved again we could fight on every ball even against a great team like Cuneo. In the fourth set, we got a little more from my serve, I am happy I’m doing well for the team. These are two great points for us in our fight to stay up”.

Giuseppe Patriarca (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “It has to be said that Verona made it difficult for Macerata three days ago and now they did it again tonight. This means they are playing good volleyball right now. We had a few worries in recent days, but we stayed in the game and we fought right until the end to win it. We went close”.
