Castellana Grotte secured the services of one of the strongest libero in Italy: Alessandro Paparoni. Born in 1981 in San Severino, Paparoni won several junior league titles in Macerata before embarking on a ten-year career in the Serie A. This will be his third season as libero, a position he had covered with success in the past with the national team. As spiker receiver he has won everything there was to win at Macerata, becoming libero in 2010-11 when the team won the Challenge Cup.

“I am convinced I can play at the highest level with Castellana Grotte too – said Paparoni – I am extremely happy to begin this new challenge, an important one for me. I am super motivated, I really want it to be a great season, one of the reasons is that I haven’t given up hopes on coming back in the national team. I am sure we’ll have an excellent season”.
