This was not easy but Macerata reached its target. The Italians beat Innsbruck for the second time in six days but once again with a shocking start. What matters, though, is the final result which keeps Macerata top of the group and which will give them a chance to clinch qualification already in the next game on January 11 against Fenerbahce.

In the second round second leg of the Challenge Cup, Modena was defeated 3-0 in Luxemburg and went out in the Golden set. Modena, which had won the first leg 3-0, lined up a rather young team: Together with Cristian Casoli, there were Carletti, Bellei, Catellani, and some of the Modena Under 19. In the Golden Set, Casoli had to come off because of back pains.
