Andrea Bari (Itas Diatec Trentino): “When you get to play such a prestigious trophy, you don’t need to look for anything to motivate you: you’re so excited just thinking about what’s at stake. It’s true that meeting Cuneo gives us that little extra: this is the right final, given that these are the two teams that have dominated the league in the past couple of years. It’s an opportunity to redeem ourselves for the three in-or-out games we’ve lost against them and we are perfectly aware that we’ll need a pretty special performance to win it. Cuneo never get it wrong in those big events, they always play well. Still, having played many of these contests against them, we have a precise idea in our heads of how to approach them. What will make the difference? It will be a particular encounter, no doubt, in which the serve and reception will as always be key factors. It will be important to feel comfortable as quickly as possible in the Palalottomatica arena. Compared to the gyms we usually play in, this one is different and it’s not easy to get use to it. Whoever does it first will surely have a significant edge”.

We have been working on every area of the game: I don’t think there will only be one single thing making the difference. The boys know they have to be ready, they have to understand their role to make things difficult for the opponent. The regular season is one thing, the playoffs another, and the final a totally different matter again. There are factors that only a final brings into play. I can guarantee that my team has always played one game at a time, making one step after another and focusing on the target in hand. Nothing else. What matters is what will happen on court and that’s what we’re concentrating on”.
