Modena had the better of Trento in semi-final Game 4 in what has been a fierce and thrilling battle. That ties the series at 2-2 meaning it will all be down to the deciding game 5 in Trento. It looked like it was going to the tie-break as Stoytchev’s boys were 23-21 up in the fourth set but Modena fought back and went on a 4-0 spurt that sealed the game in front of a delighted sold out crowd.

Daniele Bagnoli (Casa Modena): “This is the great thing about our job, this is the return you get from your sacrifices. Living those games in Modena is something unbelievable, unique. I have to congratulate the boys, they are going beyond their limits. The game looked like a boxing contest: a team like us up against a heavy weight. Today, Trento played an excellent game which shows what a great job we did. I have to admit that we had a bit of luck at the end of a fourth set, which had turned crazy. It’s obvious that Trento remains the favourite, but they will have to play well to beat us”.

Radostin Stoytchev (Itas Diatec Trentino): “Modena showed great confidence in this game, they played excellent volleyball and deserved the deciding fifth encounter. We had a bad start to the second set which had a big influence on the game. In the successive set, we managed to get back in it but lost a lot of energy. Game 5 will be a kind of V-Day. We’ll need to play with our heart and heads to beat our opponent. To win it, the important thing will not be the individual performances but the team play: this will be the only way to overcome this excellent Modena team”.
