Quarter-finals – Game 4

Casa Modena – Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza

(1-2)

Past encounters: 7 (4-3 Monza).

Daniele Bagnoli (coach Casa Modena): “The disappointment of game 3 is already gone. In the playoffs, you have to immediately look ahead, game 4 will be a different game with a new situation. This is obviously the decisive game for us, in or out, which is not the case for Monza. We will have a lot of pressure, we’ll have to do well to handle it. In terms of technique and tactic, the teams know each other by heart, I don’t think there will be anything new. We’ll have to play good volleyball like we’ve done for long spells in game 3 too. We have what it takes to win it. The mental aspect will be key, we can’t afford to relax one second, even if things don’t go our way, we proved we could come back from a set lost or recover from negative moments. Hopefully, the gym will be as packed as usual with the fans helping us in this crucial game”.

Luca Monti (coach Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “This is turning out to be the tightest contest in the quarter-final playoffs. Two teams are already through to the semis. The difference will be made of a couple of plays here and there, I just hope my team will play as well as last Wednesday: aggressive, with fighting spirit, never giving up. It will certainly not be easy in their gym, but we certainly don’t want to play as bad as we did there a week ago”.

Sisley Treviso – Lube Banca Marche Macerata

(1-2)

Past encounters: 57 (30-27 Treviso)

Alessandro Fei (Sisley Treviso): “I am happy to have reached this personal record of 7000 points, this is a great satisfaction for me which is gratifying for all the work done. After the 40 points in one game, here is the second record in the same season, destiny wanted it all to occur in the same year. It’s nice. If we won against Macerata on Wednesday, this means we can do it again. This will have to be our main motivation for game 4 in front of our fans. Macerata has the lead in the series, so I expect them to come in Treviso eager to seal it, but we are back and we have the capacity to push it to game 5. We must expect a tough game but stay composed in every situation, we can make it. The fans will give us a hand, we really need it”.

Marko Podrascanin (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We’re 2-1 up, and despite Wednesday’s defeat I still think the pressure is all on their side. We have already won in Treviso a week ago, and we are aware we can repeat this feat, even if the approach to the game will be a lot different than the last encounter. Treviso will be extremely determined, but we’re confident, calm, and keen to seal the series”.

Playoff quarter-finals

The playoff quarter-finals begin this Sunday in the A2. The one that come on top will join the winner of the regular season, Ravenna, in the A1. It all starts with Game 2 as the best classified teams are given a 1-0 edge. Two teams had to go through the 8th of final: Sora and Isernia. Sora will face Padova, which will want to fight back after losing the direct promotion despite leading all season long. Isernia will be in Tuscany to meet Santa Croce, which finished third of the regular season and won the Italian Cup A2. Coached by del Federico, Genova faces Segrate, in a match up between two newly promoted sides that had some very positive rookie seasons. Città di Castello entertains Loreto, as both teams offered some great games when they met in the regular season. They registered a win each with both games going all the way to the tie-break.
