Treviso needed a breakthrough after the first leg defeat and it went to Poland and did it. It won the game and the deciding Golden set against the Polish side of Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle. This is the fifth time in history that Treviso lifts the Cev Cup aloft, the 33rd trophy overall. Coincidentally, the Cev Cup had been the first of those trophies in 1991, and 20 years on, it celebrated again, followed by 8 fans in Poland. This triumph put an end to a drought of titles that had been lasting since the Italian Super Cup 2007.

President Andrea Benetton : “It’s a nice feeling to see that all the efforts and hard work can turn into such joy. A big thank you to this group that managed to cheer us up after the recent news. Well done to the coach, to the General Manager and all the players. The fact we lost at home might have given our boys even more motivation”.

Pasquale Gravina: “I am happy for various reasons: this is the 33rd trophy in Treviso’s history, the 5th Cev cup, an unbelievable record, impressive”.

Roberto Piazza : “It’s so great to see the hard and intense work of so many weeks paying off. I am satisfied with the way the team reacted to recent defeats. It’s nice as well because we were also 1-0 down in Poland”.

Samuele Papi : “I’m so happy. We could have won in Belluno too, we lost an opportunity there, and in the first set here, we were really tense, especially in the first minutes. Then, we found our rhythm, and winning in that packed gym, in this special atmosphere, was amazing. This represents a very important trophy for us”.

Dante Boninfante : “Winning this trophy as a starter is fantastic for me that has started in the youth department of this club. We’ve done a great job. We were tense in the first set and gave it away. But from the second on, we were all over them. This was a really strong and mature performance. I dedicate this trophy to my family, and to my friend Paolo, who has recently passed away”.
