Alberto Giuliani (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “Moscow played an excellent game, especially in dig, which we did not expect. Some of their spikers did a great job of avoiding our blocks, but I think what really made the difference was the counter attack (Lakovlev to mention one name). Now we’re going to Moscow and I can guarantee that they can change a lot of things: we’ll analyse the defeat carefully and we’ll prepare the encounter in its every single detail. We’ll go there to win”.

Serie A1 Sustenium – Round 23 postponed games

Casa Modena wins in Macerata. San Giustino wins a battle over Treviso at the tie-break.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – CASA MODENA 0-3 (33-35, 22-25, 21-25)

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lampariello, Savani 15, Paparoni (L), Vermiglio 2, Marchiani, Conte 1, Stankovic 7, Martino 5, Van Walle, Omrcen 17, Podrascanin 12. DNP Vadeleux, Cacchiarelli. Coach. Berruto.

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Kooistra 12, Dennis 16, Berezhko 12, Kooy, Casadei, Esko 6, Creus Larry 6, Casoli, Diaz 13, Piscopo. DNP Ciabattini, Fabroni. Coach. Bagnoli.

Modena shocked Macerata in its own house, where it had not won in the past 11 years. This is also the first time that Berruto’s team ends up without a point in front of their fans. Macerata remains stuck six points behind Cuneo while Treviso got closer.

Mauro Berruto (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “That’s a bad defeat, the only thing we did wrong in the first set was the serve, missing many of them, while in the following sets Modena played better than us in every area of the game and deserved the win. We can’t argue with the loss. It will be important to understand why we have those lapses, we’ll have to find the team spirit which we lacked tonight. More than worrying about the league table, it will be important to get back on track, taking care of every details in every department of the game, especially with the main players on each position”.

Daniele Bagnoli (Casa Modena): “I am extremely satisfied with my team. That is a crucial win on a very strong opponent and on a very tough court to go to. I insist on the fact this represent a very important victory for us, for the points and the boost it’ll give us, that will obviously give us a lot of confidence for the coming  games. We’ll try to get the best possible position for the playoffs.”

Danilo Finazzi (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it San Giustino): “A victory against a great team, something we had not achieved yet despite playing some good games against the top teams. We are extremely satisfied, Zanini used almost every single player, and each one of them was important”.

Alessandro Fei (Sisley Treviso): “We did not play with the right mentality. We were on and off. Anyway, it’s not the end of the world, we took a point. Just a little disappointed. It was nice, though, to play in a packed gym like that.”
