Trento wins the big game at the tie-break versus Macerata.
TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA – CASA MODENA 0-3 (23-25, 19-25, 26-28)
TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Rivera Caamano 4, Coscione 2, Suljagic 5, Anderson 14, Ferraro, Kindgard, Baroti, Simeonov 16, Barone 6, Fanuli (L), Nikolov 3. DNP Feroleto. Coach. Di Pinto.
CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Fabroni, Kooistra 11, Dennis 12, Berezhko 15, Kooy 1, Esko 2, Creus Larry 5, Casoli, Diaz 16, Piscopo. DNP Ciabattini. Coach. Bagnoli.
Well deserved win for Modena over a Vibo team that never found its rhythm.
Vincenzo Di Pinto (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We are going through a difficult period, we can’t seem to find consistency in our game. We’re facing a tough series of games now, we have to rack up points here and there”.
Daniele Bagnoli (Casa Modena): “We knew it would have been a very difficult game and so it was. These are three important points. We have to keep playing this way”.
ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 3-2 (25-14, 20-25, 25-18, 17-25, 15-8)
ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 12, Leonardi, Birarelli 9, Juantorena 14, Vieira De Oliveira 4, Sala 11, Bratoev, Colaci (L), Stokr 14, Bari. DNP Zygadlo, Sokolov. Coach. Stoytchev.
LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Savani 18, Paparoni (L), Vermiglio, Conte 13, Stankovic 3, Martino, Vadeleux 1, Cacchiarelli, Omrcen 22, Podrascanin 9. DNP Lampariello, Marchiani, Van Walle. Coach. Berruto.
The two-times World champions won the fifth set and the big game against Macerata. This is victory number 17 against the team that was the last to win in Trento in April 2010.
Radostin Stoytchev (Itas Diatec Trentino): “It’s been a good game in terms of competitive spirit, but you can’t say the same about the technical part of it. Still, I think the fans enjoyed seeing the two teams fighting to the wire for the win. We won it in spite of some problems in reception, and without being effective in attack. So credit to the boys for getting the result anyway”.
Mauro Berruto (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Shame, we could have got an even better breakthrough. I expected a lot of ups and downs: we did very well on the ups but we lacked determination when we lost the sets. Trento has only lost point against us in this league, this can be a kind of consolation for this 2-3”.
M. ROMA VOLLEY – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA 1-3 (23-25, 22-25, 25-16, 20-25)
M. ROMA VOLLEY: Zaytsev 16, Paolucci, Lebl 14, Uriarte 2, Tomatis, Cesarini (L), Corsini 6, Saraceni 9, Bencz 15, Yosifov 3, Corsano (L). DNP Hoxha, Ricci. Coach. Giani.
ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA: Rauwerdink 13, Pesenti, Krumins, Molteni 1, Buti 7, Rooney 8, Travica 4, Gavotto 23, Shumov 7, Exiga (L). DNP Cetrullo, Zito, Forni. Coach. Monti.
Roma did not manage to repeat the feat realised when the two teams first met this season. Monza had the better 3-1 this time.
Mauro Gavotto (Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “After the first two sets, we had a little lapse, but we reacted well. We faded not only because of our mistakes but also because Roma served very well. As soon as we played good dig and blocked again, we paved the way for these three important points”.
Andrea Giani (M.Roma Volley): “What happens in games is the direct consequence of what is done in training. Unfortunately, we are still in this situation of difficulty, but if you add up the too many mistakes that we made, it really becomes difficult”.
MARMI LANZA VERONA – RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT SAN GIUSTINO 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-16, 25-11)
MARMI LANZA VERONA: Latelli, Pajenk 15, Kosmina, Brunner 5, Meoni 3, Lasko 20, Smerilli (L), Lotman 13, Cala Gerardo 13. DNP Zingel, Mazzi, Bolla, Herpe. Coach. Bagnoli.
RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT SAN GIUSTINO: Zhukouski, Van Den Dries 10, Schwarz 3, Bartoletti 2, Dias 5, Giovi (L), Finazzi 9, Nikic 10, Maric 8, Cester 7, Steuerwald 2. DNP Braga, Lo Bianco. Coach. Zanini.
Verona collected its fourth consecutive three-point victory at the expense of San Giustino. Meoni MVP.
Goran Maric (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it San Giustino): “Technically, this was not a good game, this was a lacklustre performance, we were blocked too many times. Verona took advantage of our situation with a clinical play at the net and on the serve. The most important thing for us will be to find a victory as soon as possible”.
Marco Meoni (Marmi Lanza Verona): “It was a positive game, a lot of things worked fine for us, it all went very well. We enjoyed ourselves and that’s important too. The good thing about this team is that it manages to stay calm even in the difficult moments. Next is Macerata which will not be easy at all but let’s wait and enjoy this victory before thinking about it”.
