Cuneo, Treviso and Macerata will compete in the next couple of days in Europe. While Trentino is already through to the last four as host of the Final Four, in the Champions League playoff 12 Cuneo faces a tough task at home against the Russians of Belgorod. However, the Italians will try to take advantage of the difficult time the Russians are going through as they lost four straight in their national league, standing in fifth position 11 points behind the leader Kazan.
In the Cev Cup, while Modena was knocked out at the quarter final stage, Italy will still have a representative left with Treviso, which comes down from the Champions League. It will meet the French side of Sete in Belluno.
In the Challenge Cup, Macerata, which easily went through the previous rounds, will take on the Russians of Surgut in the quarter-final. The first leg will be away. Captain Igor Omrcen will not travel as he had his back blocked in the warm up before the San Giustino game on Sunday. Van Walle will come in for him. This will be a tough trip for Berruto’s team, in the occidental Siberia, where temperature can reach minus 20 at this time of the year.
