Three hours of emotions and top quality volleyball. In the end, Modena defeated Verona in front of 4000 fans: its sixth win in six tie-break played. MVP: Luis Diaz (Casa Modena)

Silvano Prandi (Casa Modena): “You can’t always be at your top mentally. This is the kind of game I expected, I know how good is Verona, they have quality players and they are good at the net. In the end, we did a good job of coming back in it and winning it. We’ll have to win in Monza in order to keep this fourth place, this is sport and we’ll focus on this next road game from tomorrow”.

Bruno Bagnoli (Marmi Lanza Verona): “I am happy with the point won and the quality of play of the team. But I am also a bit disappointed because it was one of those days in which we could have won it in Modena, we had more opportunities than them. Kooy has really been great, he substituted Berezhko brilliantly. My team has margin for improvement”.

Cuneo started the new year at home with a tie-break victory over Piacenza. Smiles all around as the Super Cup was presented but then a big battle on court, eventually won 17-15 in the fifth. MVP Simone Parodi

Javier Gonzalez (Copra Morpho Piacenza): “We knew how strong was Cuneo and that it would have been very tough in their gym. We did everything we could but they did an excellent job coming back in the end. We showed character today against a very strong opponent. It’s a great feeling for me to play in this gym, in a city that gave so much to me”.

Alberto Giuliani (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “These are two points won, in a moment in which it’s crucial for us to get points. I like the character the team showed in such a competitive game. There are obviously a few things to sort out but it’s still two nice points in the bag”.

Treviso is mathematically qualified for the Italian Cup Final Eight thanks to a big 3-1 win over Macerata decided on a tight 31-29 score in the fourth set.

Mauro Berruto (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “I did not expect such a disorganization from my team. It’s true that we were missing players in training and had Vermiglio not hundred percent, but in the important moments of the game we lacked composure. Treviso stayed focused and took advantage of our mistakes”.

Alessandro Fei (Sisley Treviso Mvp della gara): “It’s an important victory, which will give us a boost psychologically. We faced a great team but we left it out on the floor. Three points against Macerata right now does us a lot of good, and it is important for the Italian Cup too. We played with heart and fighting spirit, I think that this is what made the difference more than the tactical aspects”.

M. ROMA VOLLEY – ANDREOLI LATINA 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 25-21)

M. ROMA VOLLEY: Poey, Zaytsev 14, Lebl 11, Uriarte 6, Cesarini (L), Saraceni 15, Bencz 13, Yosifov 10. DNP Paolucci, Tomatis, Corsini, Corsano. Coach. Giani.

Giampaolo Medei (Andreoli Latina) :“Too many ups and downs to hope to win. You can’t afford such inconsistency in today’s volleyball. Shame, today could have been a good opportunity to improve but we failed to play with regularity. Now we have to forget about this”.

Gianluca Saraceni (M.Roma Volley): “Crucial and deserved win for us today. We proved we could play well despite missing many important players. As far as I’m concerned, I am happy to have played a good game. I finally feel better and I can finally focus on the next opponent rather than my physical problems”.

Trento played to perfection in Forli, while the hosts were condemned by a couple of mistakes in the clutch moments of the sets.

Piero Molducci (Yoga Forlì): “This defeat is not a step-back. This is part of the positive trend. Unfortunately, we are short in numbers, we absolutely need a player, to improve further and compete to stay up”.

Another victory for San Giustino in its PalaKemon. It beat Castellana Grotte in straight sets but in what has been a difficult and thrilling game. In the end, the determination of the hosts prevailed.

Andrea Giovi (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it San Giustino): “We got the job done, it was hard but we managed to win yet another game against a team aiming to stay up like us. We’re going to Latina on Sunday, we’ll see where we stand at the halfway point of the regular season. Our target remains to stay up”.

Paolo Cozzi (BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “In order to win games, you need character and we don’t have it. If it happens once, it can be a coincidence, twice as well, but ten times is just too many. The mistakes that we make in the game are the same that we make in training since the beginning. It’s a message for my teammates: we are the ones getting on court and looking ridiculous”.
