Città di Castello tried to become the giant killer. It defeated Roma last week but this time Castellana Grotte had the better at the tie-break and stayed firmly top of the table. Both teams had a few physical worries: Castellana was without Matheus, while Città di Castello had to give up on Stoyanov and Ceccarelli. What made the difference in the fifth set was Castellana’s power in attack, with Evandro and Mattera standing out. The winning point was a superb block from Gallotta on Di Manno.
