The A1 Italian Cup Final Four will take place in Verona’s Pala Olimpia on January 22 and 23. This will be the first time that the city of Romeo and Juliette host the event. The winner of this 33rd edition will earn a place in the 2012 Champions League. The quarter finals will take place on January 19-20 with one single game, which the best classified team at the halfway point of the regular season will host. The four winners will go through to Verona’s Final Four.  


 


In the event organised by the Italian Volleyball League, in collaboration with the Verona Fipav Provincial Committee, there will also be the final of the 14th A2 Cup, to be played on Sunday 23 January. The two teams will qualify through the semi-finals taking place on January 12. This will be played in one single game, hosted by the best classified team at the halfway point of the league regular season.


 


“We are very happy to have chosen Verona as the venue of the A1 Cup Final Four and A2 Cup Final – said Italian Volleyball League President Diego Mosna – This is an important city for Italian volleyball, there are passionate fans there and they always come in numbers for big occasions like this one. I am certain the effort made to organize the event will pay off”. The president highlighted the importance of the event “Our club have always given a big importance to the Italian Cup. Unlike other sports, in volleyball the event guarantees a place in the Champions League and consequently, this leads all the teams to perform to the maximum of their potential to win one of the three tickets to the most important European competition, which then guarantees great games and emotions at the highest level”.
