2011 CEV Champions League

The Italian Volleyball League was in Trento this morning to present the coming season in the Champions League with Trentino and Cuneo amongst the teams taking part. The two clubs dominated the national and international competitions last year: Trento won the Club World Championships, the Champions League and Italian Cup while Cuneo won the Cev Cup and became national champions.

“I am particularly happy to present this new adventure in the Champions League, on this 8th of November, just one year after our victory in the Club World Championships – said Trentino’s president Diego Mosna – To become European Champions is a dream, we had the privilege to realise this dream two years in a row and we will try to make this fantastic winning streak going, although we are fully aware of the toughness of the task ahead”.

“The Champions League is a great competition to take part in but at the same time extremely complicated – said Cuneo coach Alberto Giuliani – There are the absolute best teams and at the same time you have to face the national championship. So we have a lot to do to match our results with our ambitions. But the club worked hard this summer to give me a strong and versatile squad. It will be my debut in this competition, like it was for me in the Cev Cup last year. Trento is definitely the favourite but the Russians are serious contenders too”.
