It will be a decisive encounter on Sunday between Modena and Macerata. The latter could already go through to the semi-finals, in which it would face Trentino. However, Modena will be keen to get back in the series and not end prematurely its run in the league playoffs.

Following its poor performance on Thursday night, Treviso will try to bounce back on Monday in game 3 against Monza. It will still be without middleblocker Emanuel Kohut. In Piacenza, there will be the second round between the Italian champs and Cuneo.

Playoffs: 12 (8-4 Modena)

Wytze Kooistra (Trenkwalder Modena): “We are 2-0 down, but we played better on Wednesday compared to game 1. The defeat certainly did not go down too well and now we are left with one last chance to get back in it. Macerata showed how strong it was and in great form, but we believe in our chances, we can make it. Our work at the net? A lot has been said, Macerata has powerful spikers on high balls and Vermiglio is setting them up really well. They attack very high, it’s not easy to stop them and I think this is what made the difference in game 2. Still, we can certainly do better at the net, we can be more united, focused and accurate. I repeat, the group believes in its chances, we’ll give 110%. We’ll be at home, you know how much I love the atmosphere in the PalaPanini, I hope the fans will support us as ever”.

Sebastian Swiderski (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “At 2-0 we are even more aware of our ability but we have to keep in mind that it’s not over. We’ll have to face game 3 with the right attitude, doing as if nothing had happened in this last week. Modena was strong on Wednesday night again, it stayed in the game right until the end despite the fact that Macerata played excellently. It’s a do-or-die game for them, they’ll give their all, we can’t relax, we need another top performance”.

Gara 2

CoprAtlantide Piacenza – Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo

(1-0)

Game 1: Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo – CoprAtlantide Piacenza 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-19)

Past encounters: 31 (20-11 Cueno)

Past encounters: 11 (6-5 Piacenza)

Angelo Lorenzetti (CoprAtlantide Piacenza):“We know Cuneo was stronger once again. We’ll have to limit our mistakes as much as we can on Monday, to stay as close to them as possible. They should not seal the sets easily. In game 1, I alternated two types of line-ups: both have pros and cons, it was logical to try different things. We’ll think about it and decide what to do. Cuneo is playing great volleyball, the kind that makes it a lively game”.

Nikola Grbic (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “I expect to see a different Piacenza team compared to the one seen in Cuneo on Thursday. After two 3-0 defeats, they will want to take revenge and they will host us with their full squad. That’s why I think we’ll be facing a real battle”.
