Tomorrow night, Trento will have one first opportunity to book its place in the playoffs semi-finals. Trentino would meet the winner of Modena versus Macerata. Verona will try to play as well as last Sunday, hoping to push the series to game 4.

Macerata and Modena will play game 2 at 9pm. Macerata won the first encounter in Modena and will try to go 2-0 with the help of its supporters.

The two other quarter finals will be played on Thursday 1 April at 8.30pm: there will be game 2 of Monza versus Treviso and Cuneo’s debut following its Cev Cup triumph against Piacenza.

Game 2

Lube Banca Marche Macerata – Trenkwalder Modena

(0-1 Macerata)

Game 1: Trenkwalder Modena – Lube Banca Marche Macerata 1-3 (23-25, 25-20,19-25,23-25)

Past encounters: 51 (28-23 modena)

Playoffs meetings: 11 (8-3 Modena).

Igor Omrcen (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “First of all, we have to forget about game 1, because to go through to the semi-final, we’ll have to win three, so it would be a big mistake to think we are there yet. We played well on Saturday, it’s important to take all the positive with us, approaching game 2 with the right attitude. We have to forget about anything that happened before, as if it was the first game. Hopefully, there will be a packed gym and a great atmosphere. It would really help the team”.

Luis Diaz (Trenkwalder Modena): “Macerata is one of the great teams of this league, but we are a good team too, so let’s go there and give it a shot. We’ll have to make less mistakes than in game 1 and try to serve at our best in order to make it more difficult for Vermiglio. We’ll need composure, and maximum focus”.

Gara 3

Itas Diatec Trentino – Marmi Lanza Verona

(2-0  Trento)

Game 1: Itas Diatec Trentino – Marmi Lanza Verona 3 -0 (25–22, 25–17, 32-30)

Game 2: Marmi Lanza Verona – Itas Diatec Trentino 2-3 (18-25, 25-23, 25-21, 14-25,  12-15)

Past encounters: 14 (11-3 Trento)

Playoffs meetings: 2 (Trento won both)

Osmany Juantorena (Itas Diatec Trentino): “Game 3 will be a tense game and even more difficult than the others. Verona has nothing to lose anymore and it will give it all to make the series last longer. We have to avoid thinking the series is already over because we could be severely punished. On Sunday, it was clear that when we don’t play composed and focused they can make it really difficult for us. On the other hand, if we play at our best, we have proved to be stronger”.

Daniel Howard (Marmi Lanza Verona): “It’s all down to this game, if we lose, our season is over, so we’ll go there with maximum aggressiveness and also a lot of confidence. In every game we played against Trento, we have always managed to make it difficult for them, being close to a good result. So there is no reason to think we can’t go one step further, maybe win it and have one more game in front of our fans. Our serve improved in game 2, I think we still have margin for improvement, although it’s not easy to block the best team of the league”.
