LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – COPRATLANTIDE PIACENZA 3-2 (25-23, 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 16-14) –

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Raymaekers 6, Cisolla 15, Paparoni (L), Vermiglio 2, Bartoletti 2, Fantin, Martino 15, Monopoli, Omrcen 26, Podrascanin 8. DNP Smerilli, Swiderski. Coach. De Giorgi.

In the third tie-break of the season between Macerata and Piacenza, Macerata stopped its two games negative streak (Treviso and Trento) and remained amongst the top teams in the league table. In the fifth set, it was al Omrcen, Mvp. The 9 million Euros of takings will be allocated to the people of Haiti, which was hit by the earthquake.

Ferdinando De Giorgi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Very intense game, great competitive spirit and great technique. To be honest, it’s always the case against Piacenza. We did well to stay in the game all the time, and in the tie-break we did a good job on a couple of clutch points. Everyone had a hand in this victory, our attitude greatly improved. This win allows us to stay towards the top part of the table”.

Angelo Lorenzetti (CoprAtlantide Piacenza): “We had our opportunities but we didn’t manage to make the most of them. Some problems were clear too today, but at the end of such a hard-fought and tight game, I can’t criticise my boys for anything”.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 3-1 (18-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-22) –

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Wijsmans 14, Henno (L), Parodi 16, Fortunato 10, Nikolov 14, Grbic 3, Mastrangelo 12, Patriarca 1, Pieri (L). DNP Ariaudo, Nuti, Jeroncic, Peda. Coach. Giuliani.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 1, Gallosti (L), Birarelli 7, Portuondo Juantorena 10, Zygadlo 1, Vieira De Oliveira, Vissotto Neves 2, Sala 2, Sokolov 12, Corsini 5, Herpe 14, Bari (L). DNP Fedrizzi. Coach. Stoytchev.

Cuneo reduced the gap with Trentino thanks to a 3-1victory over the league leaders in front of over 4.400 fans. Five points separate the two teams now. Luigi Mastrangelo MVP.

Luigi Mastrangelo (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “The work done in the gym this week proved useful tonight. Meeting the leaders gives you great motivation. We struggled in the first, if you don’t serve well against the leaders, you can’t go ahead. In the following set, the serve started to work and things changed. The last set was the tightest one in which we faced their best starting six”.

Leandro Vissotto (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We got off to a good start in the first set, then Cuneo found its best level. The tiredness is taking its toll, today we tried to rest some for the next few games. Let’s focus on Wednesday’s champions League game, a crucial one for us”.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA – TRENKWALDER MODENA 3-1 (27-25, 16-25, 25-22, 25-15) –

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA: Sivula 1, Rauwerdink 8, Krumins, Semenzato, Forni 9, Molteni 7, Buti 5, Travica 6, Gavotto 24, Exiga (L). DNP Pesenti, Haldane, Tuominen. Coach. Berruto.

TRENKWALDER MODENA: Manià (L), Soli, Kooistra 4, Ciabattini, Dennis 25, Pagni 1, Kooy 12, Esko 7, Diaz Mayorca 14, Piscopo 5. DNP Bigarelli Luca. Coach. Prandi.

Thanks to a good dig and great serve, Monza went back to winning ways as it defeated Modena 3-1. Dragan Travica was the best on court against his old club. Andrea Sememzato made his comeback after eight months out.

Mauro Gavotto (Acqua Paradiso Monza): “I think the blackout of the fourth set was due to the fact we were excessively nervous. We contested many decisions and the opponent too: This is surely the reason why we lost our focus. They played better than us at the net. In the third set, as well as in the first, we played well in every area of the game, we served hard, and made great digs. The fourth set was perfect”.

Luis Diaz (Trenkwalder Modena): “Congratulations to Monza, from the third set on they played extremely well and made very few mistakes. I think their main strength came from the serve, they really made it difficult for our dig, and took advantage of it. Then, they did well on the counter and made the difference. Shame we did not manage to get back on track, but this is the beautiful side of Italian volleyball: they made less mistakes and that’s why they won”.

SISLEY TREVISO – MARMI LANZA VERONA 3-2 (19-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 15-10) –

SISLEY TREVISO: Carletti, Fei 24, Horstink 10, Papi 1, Farina (L), Kohut 6, De Togni 9, Bontje 3, Maruotti 15, Garcia 3. DNP Sabbi, Vanin, Cuda. Coach. Piazza.

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Groppi, Latelli, Sottile, Della Lunga 16, Lasko 21, Kovar, Curti 1, Holt 10, Galabinov, Colaci (L), Kromm 14, Howard 5. DNP Peslac. Coach. Bagnoli.

Bontje was back in the starting line up for this game, which was played at the unusual time of 12pm. The derby went all the way to the tie-break, which was decided by De Togni and Kohut’s blocks for Treviso.

Roberto Piazza (Sisley Treviso): “We were worried about Verona and their serve, and not surprisingly they performed well in that fundamental, even more than we expected. We had a slow start, and with the mistakes made in the first set, we allowed them to play aggressive which greatly complicated things for us. We were forced all the way to win it”.

Bruno Bagnoli (Marmi Lanza Verona): “We’re playing well and gathering points right now, shame today because at times we played better than Treviso and we could have taken all the points thanks to a very solid performance on the serve and in attack. We fought hard in the tie-break too, we paid the price for a couple of mistakes in reception. Anyway, we are in good form right now, if we keep our feet on the ground, we could do well”.

ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO – ANDREOLI LATINA 0-3 (18-25, 22-25, 23-25) –

Latina registered its third consecutive win. It defeated Pineto, which made too many mistakes on the serve and in dig. Leondino Giombini MVP.

Roberto Fant (Aran Cucine Abruzzo Pineto): “We tried our best but there was too many ups and downs. Hernandez’ absence was surely felt but I don’t feel like criticizing the boys for anything. We’ll keep playing to the maximum of our abilities”.

Giampaolo Medei (Andreoli Latina): “Good game, it was important to win to keep this good run going and get closer to staying up. The first two sets went perfectly, we found it harder in the third because Pineto never gives up but we managed to take all three points”.

YOGA FORLì – ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO 3-1 (17-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-19) –
