In the Champions League: Piacenza out, Macerata already through, while Trento needs two more sets against Olympiacos to make sure it qualifies.

Cuneo and Perugia through in CEV and Challenge Cup.

Five games have been played in the group stage and Piacenza are now definitely out of the Champions League: Lorenzetti’s team collected four defeats in five games. Still, they will have to honour their last game next Wednesday against Friedrichshafen, which is top of the group. Macerata is all smile as it is already through to the 8th of final with a game in hand: with 9 points, 14 sets win and just four conceded, they will remain top even if they were to lose in the last encounter in Innsbruck. Trentino is top of its group following its win over Budejovice but to make sure of qualification it will need two more sets as it hosts Olympiacos on Wednesday. In the worst of hypothesis, a 3-0 win for the Greeks and  a 3-0 win as well for Dinamo Moscow against the Czechs, then Dinamo and Trento would have the same set quotient and it would have to go down to the point difference.

In the Cev Cup, Cuneo cruised to the quarter finals: four wins in as many games send them in the next phase against the French of Tourcoing Lille Métropole.

In the Challenge Cup, Perugia overcame both 2nd round and 16th of final totally unscathed, It will face Ok Kakanj, Bosnia, in the first days of February.
