Trentino started to defend its title with a comeback win in Athens, Greece. Trailed two sets to nothing, Kazyiski was moved to outside hitter in place of Vissotto, while Herpe and Zygadlo came on. Three sets won followed. A nice way to send a message to the other 23 teams eager to take them their European Champion trophy. Kaziyski and Juantorema shined but Birarelli got injured at the end of the encounter.
“It’s a very important win, for the qualification but also for the team performance – said coach Stoytchev – I’m worried with Birarelli’sinjury, just like Sokolov’s last week but the best way to react from the team is precisely in this 3-2 victory over Olympiacos”
