Gioa setter and captain Michele De Giorgi ha san impressive résumé. The young De Giorgi started his career in Squinzano, not far away from his native Campi Salentina. In 1986, he is already in A1 with Ugento. He spent the next five years helping Montichiari to become one of the stable places of Italian volleyball. Four years in Naples were followed by brief spells in Grottazzolina and Latina, then he played for Piacenza and Vibo Valentia. He spent the last phase of his career south in the Puglia region between Taranto, Taviano and now Gioia del Colle.

“As a player the main change has been the Rally Point System – said Michele – The technical and tactical schemes had to evolve and therefore the whole game. Personally, with the old system, I could let my fantasy speak loudly and take more individual initiatives. Now the fear to give points away to the opponent increased the use of more secure schemes”.
