A piece of the Italian national team lands in Perugia. Matej Cernic joins Savani, Sintini, Bovolenta and Pippi, this is yet another Italian international in the squad of chairman Sciurpa.
“The team is now stronger with Cernic – said the chairman – With another top player like Cernic, I’d like to win a cup next season”.
Born in September 1978, Matej made his A1 debut in Bologna. He then played for Ferrara for four years and in Modena for 3 (2002-05). Then, he moved to Greece, tried the Russian league and finally came back to Italy, where he played at Martina Franca last season. He won the silver medal at the Olympic Games 2004 and won two European Championships in 2003 and 2005.
