ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-20) –

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 11, Birarelli 6, Portuondo Juantorena 12, Vieira De Oliveira 2, Vissotto Neves 15, Sala 5, Herpe, Bari (L). DNP Gallosti, Zygadlo, Fedrizzi, Sokolov, Corsini. Coach. Stoytchev.

RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA: Hubner 6, Savani 14, Cernic 4, Nemec 4, Ogurcak, Sintini, Pippi (L), Stokr 17, Bovolenta 4. DNP Bucaioni, Botti, Lo Bianco, Fanuli. Coach. Di Pinto.

Trentino is back in the Final Four 4 years after its last appearance in Forli. In order to get its ticket to Montecatini Terme, Trento had to overcome a Perugia team that resisted a lot less than two weeks ago in the league. The team has clearly had little time to get used to the Di Pinto way.

Matey Kaziyski (Itas Diatec Trentino): “Great team performance. We started off well, focused and careful, and we maintained this level for the whole game. We really wanted to go to the semi final and credit to the team for doing so. Let’s focus on the next game now”.

Giacomo Sintini (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia): “We lost against a great team. We never managed to keep up with with our opponent for long periods. Their rhythm on the serve made it really hard for us. In the first set, we tried to take control but in vain, Juantorema immediately stopped us with his round of serves”.

SISLEY TREVISO – COPRATLANTIDE PIACENZA 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-21) –

SISLEY TREVISO: Carletti 1, Fei 19, Horstink 6, Papi, Farina (L), Kohut 4, De Togni 2, Bontje 9, Maruotti 13, Garcia 3. DNP Sabbi, Vanin, Cuda. Coach. Piazza.

COPRATLANTIDE PIACENZA: Rak 7, Meoni, Marshall 13, Grassano, Boninfante, Zlatanov 12, Bravo 2, Rinaldi (L), Urnaut 7, Bjelica 9. DNP Mazza, Sequeira, Oivanen. Coach. Lorenzetti.

Treviso swept Piacenza and qualified for the Final Four thanks to a great team effort. E clear victory although the sets have been tight, especially the second and third. MVP: Maruotti.

Roberto Piazza (Sisley Treviso): “A great game, shame Bontje got injured at the end of the game (left ankle, ndr). Two injured players had just comeback and now just before an important game, here is another bad news. Anyway, the important thing was to go through and the fact that we did it this way with an excellent performance is satisfying. The PalaVerde is really becoming a tough place to conquer and the team is starting to be aware of its strength”.

Angelo Lorenzetti (CoprAtlantide Piacenza): “We made too many mistakes, giving up points to Treviso, which did not need it given how in form they are. When you gift so many points away from the start, in such games, then it becomes difficult to get back in it. And despite the fact that we managed to wake up after a poor start, the game quickly slipped out of our hands. Congratulations to Treviso”.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA 3-2 (16-25, 21-25, 25-17, 25-19, 15-13) –

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Wijsmans 21, Henno (L), Parodi 11, Fortunato 8, Nuti, Nikolov 16, Grbic 4, Peda, Mastrangelo 9, Patriarca. DNP Ariaudo, Jeroncic, Pieri. Coach. Giuliani.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA: Sivula, Rauwerdink 12, Krumins, Haldane, Tuominen 1, Forni 8, Molteni 9, Buti 6, Travica 5, Gavotto 26, Exiga (L). DNP Pesenti, De Luca. Coach. Berruto.

Monza played face to face with Cuneo and seemed to have a chance to snatch it after the first two sets won. But thanks to Wijmans, back to his old self with 21 points, the hosts managed to turn things around and win it in the fifth set.

Mauro Berruto (Acqua Paradiso Monza): “I am happy with our performance against Cuneo, which is a team built to win. This game is like a victory for us”.

Alberto Giuliani (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “The first two sets were carried out like a training sessions, as we were trying to find a good understanding, From the third set onwards, our team was back at its real level, aware of its ability, and we obtained the first cup semi final since I took over”.

TRENKWALDER MODENA – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 3-2 (25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-13) –

TRENKWALDER MODENA: Manià (L), Ciabattini, Kooistra 15, Dennis 31, Kooy, Biribanti, Esko 5, Casoli 5, Diaz Mayorca 17, Piscopo 7. DNP Soli, Pagni. Coach. Prandi.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lebl, Raymaekers 14, Cisolla 18, Paparoni, Vermiglio 3, Bartoletti, Martino 11, Corsano (L), Omrcen 26, Podrascanin 7. DNP Fantin, Smerilli, Monopoli. Coach. De Giorgi.

At the end of a very entertaining game, Modena could celebrate its participation in the Italian Cup Final Four, which will take place on the 30 and 31 of January in Montecatini. Show time and a very high level of volleyball took place in front of 4000 fans and the Italian coach Andrea Anastasi. Dennis, Diaz and Esko shined for Modena, especially in the second and third, while Omrcen helped Macerata to snatch the second and fourth. The fifth set remained very tight and tense. Macerata tried to run away but Modena hanged on. At 14-13, Piscopo made the winning block on Omrcen. Dennis scored 31 points and was named MVP.

Silvano Prandi (Trenkwalder Modena): “It’s so nice to have won it. We never let them take control, we were always in the game, even in the sets we have lost. What matters in those games is the results and we are happy with it”.
