Both parts made many mistakes. Omrcen was the clutch player, MVP with 24 points, lethal on the serve with two consecutive aces at 23-22 for Taranto. Westphal’s mistake from the backline was also decisive on the 23-20 for Taranto.
Paolo Montagnani (Prisma Taranto): “There has been great competitiveness. Omrcen decided it, the right man at the right moment. He found himself on the serve and launched three massive hits difficult to contain. The big teams are like that, they find their best weapons in the clutch time. As for us, Westphal’s mistake at 23-20 was key”.

Thrilling game in Loreto’s PalaSerenelli. In a match up between two teams fighting to stay up, the hosts eventually celebrated at the end of 5 tight sets. Vigilante was the MVP of the game (25 pts).
Christian Vigilante (Esse-ti Carilo Loreto): “We had to give it all in such an important game and that’s what we did. We played with fighting spirit, heart and got the win. The fourth set was the turning point when we came back from 12-14 down, showing all our persistence and will to win”.
Leondino Giombini (Andreoli Latina): “We could have won it, but we did not handle our 2-1 lead very well. We are not as strong as we thought and we’ll have to fight hard in the next few games to move up the table”.

Tento was rarely put under pressure. Only Marci and Carrol managed to give a bit of food for thought to the Italian champs, especially in the second set. The rest was Kaziyski and Zygadlo’s show.
Joel Bacci (Yoga Forlì): “We have not been accurate from the serve, and we really could have done better in the second sets, when we made it difficult for Trento. Let’s focus on Sunday’s game against Verona now”.

Easy win for Cuneo, which had everything under control right from the start despite Wijmans’ absence. Substitute Patriarca did well, while the MVP was Mastrangelo, doing brilliantly at the net.

Marcello Forni (Acqua Paradiso Monza): “We won for Marcello Gabana too. We failed to do so in Macerata despite the fact we played well but this time the win is dedicated to him and our new chairman. Perugia’s run of four consecutive wins has been interrupted at the fifth set against Modena in a game it seemed to be able to dominate from start to finish. Dick Kooy was the man of the match. Perugia won the first set despite being 5 points behind at one point. The host made it 2-0 before finding itself without energy to finish it off in the third. The fourth was all Modena and in the tie-break the guest did not find much difficulty to seal it.
