Treviso had the better of Piacenza and are now above the Italian champs in the table. Ricardo was the main architect, one that Treviso could hardly do without. The hosts were clinical and constant dominating the game. On the other hand, Piacenza showed little of its undeniable qualities. There are some extenuating circumstances for Piacenza, which counts many injured players. Lorenzetti had to make a few changes with Zlatanov and Grassano on the wings and Urnaut outside hitter. Treviso lost Horstink because of an ankle injury early in the third set, excellently substituted by Samuele Papi.
Angelo Lorenzetti (CoprAtlantide Piacenza): “We haven’t played well. I was particlarly angry for the Modena game. We were in good form and played poorly. Now we are in this negative spell and are consequently in difficulty. We did very little, this is one of those period. We were hoping to force a tie-break, but unfortunately it didn’t go as we wanted. I tried to call timeout to stop their series of lucky points, in vain unfortunately”.
Roberto Piazza (Sisley Treviso): “I am very satisfied with the three points. I’m not even looking at the table for the Italian Cup, I’m not interested for now. Our captain Samuele Papi took over in the fourth set and scored all the important points”.
