The Italian Volleyball League’s board of directors carried out a useful meeting in Castiglione del Lago. Important decisions were taken regarding the activity of the next few months. The events standing out are the 2009-10 playoffs and the V-Day.

The A1 playoffs will be played under a new formula: The quarters and semis will be played on a five game basis (three wins needed to go through), while the final will be played on one single encounter. “The fans always remember the last sets of a league final – said League President Claudio Sciurpa – The “V-day” will be even more incisive, one game that will be filled with extreme emotion”.

Meanwhile, the vice presidents have been elected: they will be Piacenza’s chairman Guido Molinaroli, and Bassano’s Chairman Fiorenzo Signor.

Another point discussed was the summer activity. Many athletes stop to train in June and are off for a long spell and President Sciurpa launched a study of budget and availability from the clubs to reintroduce summer competition.
