ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – ACQUA PARADISO GABECA MONZA 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-21) –
ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 16, Gallosti (L), Birarelli 6, Portuondo Juantorena 11, Vieira De Oliveira 3, Sala 8, Sokolov 11, Corsini, Herpe, Bari (L). Dnp Zygadlo, Fedrizzi. Coach. Stoytchev Radostin.
ACQUA PARADISO GABECA MONZA: Sivula 1, Rauwerdink 6, Pesenti, Krumins, Forni 6, Molteni 8, Buti 8, Travica 4, Gavotto 9, Exiga (L). Dnp Tuominen, De Luca. Coach. Berruto Mauro.
The Trento serve (13 aces) added to Kaziyski’sispirational performance (8 aces and 57% at the net) had the better of Monza, who fought for just one set ( the second in which they wasted a set point) before letting the game in the hand of the hosts. Stoytchev expected his boys to react with pride following the 3-0 defeat in Vibo Valentia and had what he wanted. However, the victory cannot be justified only by the difference in character but also in terms of play. Trentino’s game was flowing with its setter doing a better job than his counterpart. Monza did well in attack, inspired by a positive Travica, but paid the price for making too many mistakes on the serve (14 with only 3 aces), while it’s precisely this part of the game that rocketed the European champs to victory.
Radostin Stoytchev (Itas Diatec Trentino): “I’m very happy with my boys’performance. After the defeat in Vibo, I expected a reaction of this kind even if a few things did not go perfectly. We still have a lot of work on, even though we made a good step forward compared to the previous outings”.
Simone Buti (Acqua Paradiso Monza): “We got off to an horrible start in the first set and then we were under pressure from their serve. In the second set, we definitely played better and created the opportunities to tie it at 1-1, the game could have gone a different way. Unfortunately, we did not convert and have to focus on the next game now”.
ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO – MARMI LANZA VERONA 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) –
ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO: De Angelo Freitas 6, Marra (L), Diachkov 14, Van Dijk 14, Visentin 3, Belcecchi, Paoli, Cester 2, Shumov 9. Dnp: Marzola, Dolfo, Vigilante. Coach. Moretti Luca.
MARMI LANZA VERONA: Latelli (L), Groppi, Sottile, Della Lunga 8, Lasko 9, Kovar 3, Curti 2, Holt 3, Colaci (L), Kromm 7, Howard 9. Dnp: Peslac, Galabinov. Coach. Bagnoli Bruno.
This is the first ever win for Loreto in the A1. Luca Moretti’s team beat Verona with the maximum margin at the PalaSerenelli and took all three points. The hosts played an exceptional game with an incisive serve (7aces). It was also effective at the net with 12 blocks. Andrii Diachkov is the MVP of the game: He scored 14 points, of which 2 aces and 1 block. As for Verona, this is its second consecutive defeat on a 3-0 score following the one against Modena (Loreto’s next opponent on Sunday).
Dore Della Lunga (Marmi Lanza Verona): “When you play like this, you can only lose 3-0, and it’s difficult to talk about what went wrong. The difference was in the attitude, in the approach of the game: Loreto fought on every ball reacting well after mistakes, while we put our head down too soon and did not fight when in difficulty. Shame because in the third set, we could have got back in it, but instead we did not find the strength”.
Enrico Cester (Esse-ti Carilo Loreto): “An almost perfect game, if we take away the few mistakes of the beginning of match. As the game went on, we improved our serve, and we also became more effective in attack. They helped us as well, making a few too many mistakes, but we did a good job of taking advantage as much as we could. Let’s enjoy this nice victory, the first this year, which I think we really deserve”.
PRISMA TARANTO – YOGA FORLì 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-20) –
PRISMA TARANTO: De Oliveira 11, Ricciardello (L), Candellaro 6, Cozzi 12, Suxho 2, Rodrigo Pinto 15, Abbadi 9, Westphal, Spescha. Dnp: Montagna, Moretti, Quartarone. Coach. Montagnani Paolo.
YOGA FORLì: Coscione, Carrol 15, Popp 3, Stancu 8, Ainsworth, Gjorgiev, De Pandis (L), Casadei, Loglisci 4, Maric 12. Dnp: Mengozzi, Bianchi, Damassa. Coach. Molducci Piero.
Taranto was one level above. Just like against Latina, the dig and block was the combination on which it built its success. Rivaldo and Cozzi had a mesmerizing evening, the first being MVP with 15 points and 68% in attack, and the second tallying 12 points and 82% in attack.
Rivaldo (Prisma Taranto): “I am happy with my team’s victory and also for my personal performance. We are improving game by game. The MVP award gratifies me but it could equally have gone to my teammate Cozzi”.
Manuel Coscione (Yoga Forlì): “Taranto deserved to win. They played a lot better than us, they were more consistent. When they made a 3-4 point break we did not manage to peg them back. Forli struggled mainly because of the positive night of Taranto’s Brasilians, at times unstoppable”.
TRENKWALDER MODENA – ANDREOLI LATINA 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-23) –
TRENKWALDER MODENA: Manià (L), Ciabattini (L), Kooistra 5, Dennis 18, Kooy 11, Esko 2, Meszaros 11, Casoli 2, Piscopo 5. Dnp: Soli, Pagni, Biribanti, Diaz Mayorca. Coach. Prandi Silvano.

Great win for Modena which, after Sunday’s victory over Verona, adds a second consecutive 3-0 at the expense of Latina. This means it goes top of the table after third round. As Italy’s coach Andrea Anastasi watched on, and in front of 3000 fans at the PalaPanini, Dennis and co played a solid game, making very few mistakes and averaging a great 65% in attack. Setter Mikko Esko was named MVP: he distributed well and inspired spectacular plays”.
Silvano Prandi (Trenkwalder Modena): “Very satisfied with the result, the points and the level of play which is improving. We made very few mistakes and took advantage of the opportunities that we created. Let’s focus on Sunday’s game now, another tough one against Loreto”.
Daniele Ricci (Andreoli Latina): “The result couldn’t be clearer. Modena played a lot better than us. Yesterday, I thought we could be on court for over two hours and maybe try to win against a Modena team totally renovated. But instead, we played poorly: We have to go back to the levl we expressed ten days ago”.
BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – COPRATLANTIDE PIACENZA 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 35-33, 25-20) –
BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Wijsmans 19, Henno (L), Parodi 16, Fortunato 5, Nuti, Nikolov 20, Grbic 6, Peda 3, Mastrangelo 8, Patriarca, Pieri (L). Dnp Ariaudo, Jeroncic. Coach. Giuliani Alberto.

Cuneo made up with its fan by going back to inning ways against a great team as Piacenza is. Cuneo had the better of the Italian champs 3-1 in what has been a tight encounter. A record third set had the crowd holding its breath for 40 minutes. It finished amongst the applause on a 35-33 score for the hosts. Simone Parodi MVP.
Simone Parodi (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We played well against a very strong team proving we have character. I like my team even more after this victory.
Angelo Lorenzetti (CoprAtlantide Piacenza): “A bit disappointed for the second set. The thir was a fantastic one, but the whole game was great. In the end, Cuneo handled the difficult moments better than us, while we proved inconsistent in terms of technique”.
RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 2-3 (22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-18, 12-15) –
RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA: Hubner 10, Savani 18, Cernic 12, Nemec, Botti, Ogurcak, Sintini 1, Pippi (L), Stokr 23, Fanuli (L), Bovolenta 7. Dnp Bucaioni, Lo Bianco. Coach. Sartoretti Andrea.

Perugia vs Macerata finished at the tie-break for the guests. It’s been a thrilling game with Mocerata taking the first two sets. Perugia had none of it and two the following two. Nothing to do with the Perugia team seen against Treviso. The fundamentals were working fine. Savani was consistent, Cernic and Stokr did well too. Omrcen’s 29 points for Macerata needs no further comments. In the tie-break, Macerata was in front from start to finish as Perugia ha dput a lot of energy in the previous sets. Still it left the court under the applause of the fans. MVP: Omrcen.
Cristian Savani (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia): “We needed a game to redeem ourselves following the Treviso performance. We stay in the game all the way and despite the two-set deficit, we got back in a game that seemed doomed”.
Massimo Caponeri (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “This is the kind if opponent we expected. We had seen the cassettes of their previous games and we knew it would go this way. Still, we are happy with the win”.
TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA – SISLEY TREVISO 2-3 (20-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-16, 10-15) –
TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Contreras 12, Gonzalez 11, Marquez 21, Andrae 3, Ferraro (L), Saraceni 6, Moltò, Tencati 11, Barone 8, Cicola (L). Dnp Cannistrà, Corvetta, Simeonov. Coach. Uriarte Jon.

Very little Vibo Valentia could do in the tie-break against a Treviso seemed on the brink but which instead found the necessary resources to get back in it and hit the winning strike”.
Roberto Piazza (Sisley Treviso): “This has been a very difficult game and we knew it would be so. Vibo preoved to be a tough team, I’m sure they will have a good season. We should have sealed it in three sets, but in the end we ran the risk of losing it. We won it thanks to the reception”.
Jon Uriarte (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “Thrilling game, divided in two parts. Not too good in the first two sets and then a great comeback from my boys. Treviso played well and in the tie-break it dominated. We will keep working with the awareness of the capacities of this team”.
