The third of the series was the game of the first times: For the first time, Piacenza goes ahead in a league final, it had never happened in the four previous ones. It managed to do so by winning in Trento which it had failed to achieve since the 15th of October 2006. Now the dream of a whole city could become reality as Piacenza has two opportunities to win the title. For the first time, Trentino lost at home in the playoffs and this is the first time Grbic and co lose a tie-break too.
Matey Kaziyski (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We really struggled in this game as well. I had a poor game. Sometimes I was doing OK but then… I want to get back to my best to help the team. Compared to game 2, our reception was better but we must still improve. Game 4 will be very tough but we have to win it”.
Leandro Vissotto Neves (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We did not manage to block, we did not manage to dig, our system did not work. This season, we had many positive moments, but we also went through difficult patches. This is one of them, but we are a great group and we can come on top”.
Leonell Marshall (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “We played with heart and with our heads and that paid off with this result. We haven’t won anything yet and we shouldn’t forget this. They will come in Piacenza to tie the series”.
Marco Meoni (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “If we wanted to have the slightest opportunity of winning the title, we had to win at least once in Trento. We are very satisfied but like we’ve been saying for a while, this is a long series. The serve was inconsistent, but it worked fine in the fifth set, which helped us win the game”.
