SERIE A1 TIM

ALL UNCHANGED BETWEEN  TRENTO, CUNEO AND MACERATA

In the 21st round of the A1 league, each of the top three teams obtained three-point victories, meaning the table remains unchanged. However, perugia moved up to fourth.

In Cuneo, the host defeated the last team that had beaten them this season: Forli, and extended its winning streak to 13.

Another team seems unstoppable right now: Perugia came away from Treviso with its 8th consecutive win and moved up to fourth at the expense of Piacenza. Lorenzetti’s team couldn’t do much against Trentino, who registered its third three-point win running. Piacenza did everything possible to make it difficult for the Italian champs but Trentino seemed more united and accurate.

Macerata had it all easy against Padova, who seems doomed to go down. In the PalaOlimpia gym, Verona needed a tie-break to get  rid of Montichiari but they’re now tied with Treviso in 7th place in the league table. After four losses in a row, Modena got back to winning ways against Pineto, keeping its dream of playoffs alive.

Martina Franca will play host to Vibo Valentia tomorrow night.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Wijsmans 19, Gonzalez 1, Fortunato 6, Vergnaghi (L), Nikolov 16, Nuti 2, Curti 7, Abbadi 8, Biribanti 13, Pieri (L), Platenik 4. Dnp Ariaudo, Rossi. Coach. Prandi Silvano.

YOGA FORLì: Henno (L), Molteni 23, Bendi (L), Bittar 5, Haldane 11, Redwitz 2, Di Franco, Casadei 6, Loglisci 4, Bellini, Patriarca 10, Bozko 2. Dnp Dolfo. Coach. Molducci Piero.

Francesco Biribanti (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “Nuti and I brought the necessary sparkle. It’s normal that the starters fade a bit at times as they play twice a week. We did our job. Forli gave its best while we have been a bit inconsistent but in the end we won it”.

Davide Bellini (Yoga Forlì): “I have thousands of memories of the three years I spent here going through my head everytime I come in this gym. Cuneo is a great team but at times we managed to impose our game. We should have made it more difficult for them with our serve”.

COPRA NORDMECCANICA PIACENZA – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 0-3 (22-25, 20-25, 23-25)

COPRA NORDMECCANICA PIACENZA: Rak 7, Pampel 9, Insalata 3, Meoni, Marshall 11, Grassano 6, Boninfante, Durante (L), Dunnes, Bjelica 7. Dnp Zingaro, Zlatanov. Coach. Lorenzetti Angelo.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 13, Birarelli 7, Vissotto Neves 13, Grbic 2, Winiarski 10, Bari (L), Piscopo 7. Dnp Zygadlo, Della Lunga, De Paola, Leonardi, Garcia Pires Ribeiro, Stefanov. Coach. Stoytchev Radostin.

Michele Grassano (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “We knew it was going to be complicated. Unfortunetaly, we have our minds set in Poland, even if we proved, despite all the difficulties, that we could play well with these players for long spells”.

Radostin Stoytchev  (All. Itas Diatec Trentino): “I am not satisfied with the game of my team. The fact that Piacenza was missing Zlatanov probably led to a lack of concentration from my players. Our level of play faded and I can’t be happy with that”.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – ANTONVENETA PADOVA 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-23)

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lebl 5, Giovi (L), Vermiglio 2, Bartoletti, Snippe, Saraceni 6, Monopoli, Corsano (L), Santana 6, Omrcen 19, Swiderski 9. Dnp Martino, Podrascanin. Coach. De Giorgi Ferdinando.

Ferdinando De Giorgi (All. Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We did a good job of imposing our rhythm in the first two sets, and then find the winning touch when we struggled a bit more. I’m obviously talking about the third set, when Padova got back in it. The first place? We should try to go as high as we can, so we have to believe in it. Now, we’ll focus on the Champions League in the next few days: We should build on what we’ve done at home in Istambul”.

Matias Raymaekers (Antonveneta Padova): “Poor two first sets. We played better in the third and were close to get back in it, but we got ourselves out of it, like it unfortunately happened already several times this season. We knew it was going to be really tough to even get a point against Macerata but we’re disappointed all the same”.

TRENKWALDER MODENA – FRAMASIL PINETO 3-0 (25-21, 26-24, 25-22)

TRENKWALDER MODENA: Ciabattini (L), Tencati 6, Kooistra, Rinaldi (L), Dennis 12, Sartoretti 16, Santos 12, Smuc, Travica 2, Siebeck, Endres 3, Casoli 7. Dnp Lee. Coach. Zanini Emanuele.

FRAMASIL PINETO: De Oliveira 9, Hietanen 9, Fantin 9, Vicini (L), Jago, Lampariello (L), De Gennaro Leme 1, Rodrigo 5, Buti 8, Fabroni, Ravellino 6. Dnp Sborgia, Mancini. Coach. Montagnani Paolo.

Emanuele Zanini (All. Trenkwalder Modena): “It is an important victory and a crucial game at this moment of the season. This will help us get rid of a few doubts. We are still far away from a playoffs spot, but we’ll try it all right till the end”.

Paolo Montagnani (All. Framasil Pineto): “We’ve had too many problems this week and at this level you pay the price. We had got off to a good start but then we lost our way”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – ACQUA PARADISO GABECA MONTICHIARI 3-2 (27-29, 20-25, 25-19, 26-24, 15-11)

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Latelli (L), Parodi 12, Popp 15, Sottile, Colaci, Lasko 26, Dehne 5, Szabo, Semenzato 12, Bontje 17. Dnp Volpini, Mosterts. Coach. Giuliani Alberto.

ACQUA PARADISO GABECA MONTICHIARI: Sala 10, Rauwerdink 10, Pesenti, Horstink 24, Tiberti, Esko 1, Forni, Howard 11, Bellei 1, Gavotto 17, Zito, Manià (L). Coach. Berruto Mauro.

Alberto Giuliani (All. Marmi Lanza Verona): “What Verona did today and its attitude is satisfying. It showed great character, overcoming injuries and the flu that disturbed our week. We looked to find a good balance in the first two sets but credit to Montichiari for the quality volleyball they played. In the end, we managed to find our best volleyball to grab a crucial victory”.

Robert Horstink (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari): “We knew this was a tough game to face. We won the first set on a couple of plays, but in the second we were at our best. We could have sealed it in the third but Dehne made the difference with his serve, scoring the decisive aces. The game was open again, and in the end, Verona had the better”.

SISLEY TREVISO – RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA 1-3 (16-25, 25-21, 20-25, 16-25)

SISLEY TREVISO: Bortolozzo Matteo, Fei 5, Papi 10, Farina (L), Kohut 10, Saitta, Antonov 7, Endres 7, Cisolla 11, Daldello (L), Garcia. Dnp Dolfo. Coach. Dall’olio Francesco.

RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA: Savani 10, Nemec, Serafini, Sintini 3, Felizardo 14, Pippi (L), Vujevic 10, Stokr 27, Fanuli (L), Bovolenta 8. Dnp Kovacevic, Cruz De Carvalho, Botti. Coach. Di Pinto Vincenzo.

Francesco Dall’Olio (All. Sisley Treviso): “Shame we lacked composure in the key moments of each set, because we had created a favourable situation to do something positive. Tonight, the fact that we’re not at our best physically prevailed on the confidence and cynicism we had shown in recent weeks. Congratulations to Perugia. We have to foget about it and focus on Wednesday’s game, when we’ll have a good opportunity to reach the Challenge Cup Final Four”.

Giacomo Sintini (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia): “We’re playing great volleyball right now. It’s never easy to win in Treviso and we knew we needed to play at our best to get a result. We managed to do so, beating one team against whcih we’ve often struggled. I’ve had the better of Treviso very few times in my career. To have achieved it today gives us a lot of confidence for the future”.
