Cuneo will be looking closely at the game between Macerata and Trentino, as it could take first place thanks to a 3-1 victory over Verona on Saturday night. It had lost the first set but reacted spectacularly with Nikolov unstoppable (23 points, 67% overall in attack). The Bulgarian took over Lasko (Verona) from the second set and was logically named MVP of the game.
Vladimir Nikolov (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “In the first set, Verona’s dig was better than ours and played well on the counter attack. We were more accurate in the second and then we had a good performance. This victory does not mean that much, though. The moment that matter are others: playoffs, Cev finals, Italian Cup Final Eight”.
Alberto Giuliani (Coach. Marmi Lanza Verona): “We should have slowed things down a bit, and handled better some plays, especially in the crunch time of each set. We hurried the play and that’s why we struggled against their block”.
