In the last game of the A2 Italian cup quarter finals, Roma had the better of Bassano in four sets. The hosts got off to a strong start (25-18). The second set was thrilling and spectacular going all the way to an amazing 35-37 score for Bassano, who tied the game. But then, the team from the capital took control. The return game will be on Wednesday 21 January.

Piacenza obtained an important win in the Champions League by beating away from home Apeldoorn from Holland at the tie-break. This victory means the Italians are back on top of Group D.
