TIM CUP A2

Quarter finals results

Three of the four quarter finals were played yesterday (Roma vs Bassano is scheduled on Thursday night).

In what seem to be the most unpredictable contest, Gioia del Colle upset Loreto 3-0 despite being without Dias and Nuzzo. De Giorgi and co realized a near-perfect performance that left no chance to Moretti’s boys.

The game between Bologna and Santa Croce went all the way to the tie-break. The team from Tuscany took the first set, then, led by Gromadowski and Bjelica, Bologna tied it and even went ahead 2-1. However, the fourth was dominated by Loreto with Mattioli shining from the serve. In the tie-break, it’s Mattioli again with an ace that gave his team the first match point.

There was an away win too for Latina, 3-1 winners of Isernia.

The return games will be played on Wednesday 21 January at 8.30. In case of parity in terms of victory, an extra set will be played.

TRENTO & CUNEO FINA. MACERATA BEATEN

The Italians gathered two wins and a loss on Wednesday night in their European campaign as Piacenza will play Thursday night.

Trentino had it all easy against the French of Beauvais, winning 3-0 and securing first place in the group.

On the other hand, Macerata was defeated in Belgio. De Giorgi had to make do without many starters, who stayed home, and Lebl and co surrendered in four sets.

In the Cev Cup, Cuneo took just an hour and fifteen minutes to get rid of Budva from Montenegro. After two relatively easy sets, Wijmans and co struggled to finish the job off, having to wait for the 30th point to seal the deal at 30-28.
