The fourth round of the return games started with a classic: the game between Treviso and Modena. The two teams that met many times in finals were in a bit of a different situation but with 3 crucial points at stake, as they’re both trying to turn things around in a, so far, disappointing season.

Modena had won their last two and could have approached the game with confidence but instead, they were tense and inaccurate. Treviso built this win on a good serve and reception. The second set was a carbon copy of the first with Treviso agile in keeping a slight edge all the way. In the third, Modena struggled right from the start, falling behind 16-7. Zanini tried a few changes but nothing worked against the determination of the hosts.

Alberto Cisolla (Sisley Treviso): “We did well to get on court focused on the technical and tactical aspects of the game, without thinking about the difficulty we’re going through right now. They’ve surely not played their best game, but we were solid, setting a high and consistent rhythm of play”.

Emanuele Zanini (Trenkwalder Modena): “The right adjective to define our performance is ‘disappointing’ and let me say, before considering the technical aspect, that I’m really sorry for our fans. We had kind of made up with them just a few days ago. It was all one-way traffic, our dig was not aggressive. Our block, which proved fundamental in recent wins was non-existent. However, the most negative aspect was our compliance, I can’t understand this attitude especially after the work we had done in the gym this week”.
