The new Castellana Grotte team, which will be labelled ‘New Mater’, is ready to take part in its fifth consecutive A2 championship.
The ex-chairman Michele Miccolis will stay at the club in charge of the youth department, which brought some extremely satisfying results of late. Vice president Jimmy Giannuzzi will extend his journey at the club too while the new chairman will be Gaetano Carpinelli. The GM will be Vito Primavera, happily back in his hometown. The latter immediately started his job by confirming coach Radames Lattari would guide the team version 2009-10.
As far as players are concerned, there is little left to be known. The players that will fight for the city are Brazilians Evandro Guerra, Maurizio Castellano and Jardel, setter Giordano Mattera, second outside hitter Jose Matheus. There will also be the come back of Francesco Guglielmi, in Martina Franca last season. Middleblocker Alessandro Giosa should also join the group from Gioia del Colle, while in the last few hours, the club announced the signing of Jiri Popelka, Czech spiker who was in Berlin last season, and one of the best Italian libero in Marco Vicini.
