Three days from the exciting Match 1 of last sunday, Itas Diatec Trentino gets back on court tomorrow evening in Rome to face M. Roma Volley for Match 2 of the Serie A1 TIM 2007/08 playoffs semifinals.
After their victory at PalaTrento, Stoytchev’s team can play, in the capital, their first matchball to go through to the Finals, an achievement never reached in the history of Trentino Volley.
On the contrary, M. Roma has to win to avoid closing their season. Start time is 21.00 with the live coverage on SKY Sport 2.
ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO The beautiful performnce given last sunday against Roma has obviously galvanised the enviroment and cheered the supporters who filled PalaTrento like they never did this season.
As it happened after Match 1 of the quarterfinals against Modena, coach R. Stoytchev asks everyone to keep the euphoria on the side. “We have made a good step ahead towards the final, but this series of matches against Roma is not over at all – he comments – so we must stay concentrated. In match 1 we have been tactically more careful and motivated to do well, but I believe that tomorrow night we will play a very difficult match, both because M. Roma Volleu will certainly react with their individuals and because we will not be able to count on our great home support who was the 7th man on court last sunday”.
In Match 1, other than Kaziyski and Grbic (rispectively the topo scorer with 14 points and the match MVP), middle blockers Birarelli and Jeronic have done their duty beautifully both attacking and blocking. Nikolov and Winiarski’s service and attack was of great level too.
Kaziyski is also the 5th scorer of the playoffs with 49 points in total played in the 10 sets and with 52% of positivity in attack. In the individual standings Bari has done well receiving (9th) and Birarelli for the middleblockers standings.
With tomorrow’s match, the libero from Marche will obtain his 84th presence with Trento’s shirt, reaching Andrea Sartoretti 4th in the overall standings, Paolo Tofoli leading it with 120 matches.
Trentino Volley in Rome, after winning their first match ever in a play offs semifinal match, will play their 16th away match in the playoffs ever; Itas won 6 of them. Tomorrow’s will be their 28th match in the playoffs, 12 the victories and 15 the defeats.
