The most looked forward and desired moment for Marmi Lanza Verona and Mare&Volley Forli has finally arrived: the two formations go on court to walk the final bit of journey leading to Serie A1 TIM. News for both teams in the starting six: in Alberto Giuliani’s line up we have Mario Canzanella instead of Janic in zone 4, while Piero Molducci is forced to give up on middle blocker Creus Larry for Gelli (due to a muscular problem to his shoulder).
From the very beginning, Mare&Volley Forlu sends a precise message to the home team and the 4.731 people present: Loglisci & Co. are facing the second team of the regular season without reverence.
On the contrary, Verona appear too tense and Forli takes advantage alternating their strangth and precision when serving, making it difficult for Sottile to build his game. Marmi Lanza Verona keeps fighting though and they go on 21-20 with an ace by Sgò, who came in for Bellei thanks to the under 23 rule. In this phase of the set Forli makes more mistakes, one of their biggest weaknesses tonight: two mistakes in attack by Rodrigues give Verona the chance to run away (23-21). Mare&Volley relies on Bozko’s experience to come back and get the first matchball. Giulinai’s team proves to have strong nerves and the right man at the right time: Ramon Gato is everywhere and precious when shifting the needle of the scale towards Verona’s side.
Marmi Lanza Verona takes the lead in the second set thanks to an inspired Daniele Sottile, author of an absolutely lucid and precise directorship that called all his attacking force to work, getting Giacomo Bellei back in the game after being a bit weak in the previous set.
A Mare&Volley making too many mistakes seems to make it easy for Marmi Lanza Verona’s 3-0. but Molducci’s team find some new strength in Alberto Casadei, who replaced a lit off Rodrigues and in Massimo Gelli who conquers the 23-23 with an attack and a block. Towards the end of the set Daniele Sottile stops due to a muscular pain and Giuliani lauches second setter Eugenio Dolfo. Luciano Bozkos’s coldness is Forli’s extra weapon, his technique signs the points worth the set victory.
Forli’s come back is over for tonight. Back on court, Verona go ahead in no time and they carry on until the final victory for 25-20.
The final series is far from being decided though. On sunday in Forli for match 2 (live on SKY Sport 2) where everything can happen.

Matteo Mosterts (Marmi Lanza Verona): “It was a good group victory even though some individuals have given something more, like Gato and Sottile. It was amazing to play in such a warm venue, but the great success is still to come. We are hoping to celebrate promotion in Forli this sunday; it would be great if a lot of our supporters could join us there”.
Marco Loglisci (Mare&Volley Forlì): “Surely Verona has has played a clean match and without mistakes, unlike us who wasted too many balls. From the very first set we have seen this happening when we did not succeed with so many balls in attack. Now we have everything at stake in match 2, we have no intention on going on holiday and we will have to start playing like we know how starting from our service which has not been as successful as it normally is”.
