Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza stops the 11th leader Itas Diatec Trentino’s positive series of 11 consecutive victories, defeated today for 3-2. It is a very emotional match, good playing with 2 teams who fought for almost 2 and a half hours.

Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza starts better in the first set. They take advantage of a better attention to blocking, together with a high efficiency of the actions replayed. The home team goes ahead and the difference in this set is made by Granvorka and Zlatanov, unstoppable in attack.

Itas Diatec, action after action, find themselves on 23-23. the decisive break is signed by Grankova and Zlatanov who give the first set to Piacenza.

The second set smiles to Trento instead. It is certainly more balanced than the 1st one. The two serving mistakes of Cozzi and Bravo in the end are vital. Itas Diatec gets even thanks to a 23-25 victory.

A balance that does not seem to break up at the beginning of the third set. The teams are on the same level up to 11-11. That is when the home team goes ahead on 16-13 at first then 20-13 for a final 25-16.

the 4th set closes with only two points between the two teams. 23-25 for Itas Diatec Trentino.

They go to tie break. Simeonov falls badly and he is forced to leave the match which is once again very intense. Zlatanov steps up towards the end. He stops Nikolov first and then scores an ace that brings his team on 13-11. Bravo spikes the 14-12 soon after that; Meoni’s block over Nikolov closes the match.

Angelo Lorenzetti (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza) “ I am happy. We played well, the big regret is for the 4th set which we could have managed better winning it. We played against the leader who is coming from a great period and tonight they made us work hard”.

Vladimir Nikolov (Itas Diatec Trentino) “We tried to win this match in any possible way. But looking at it overall, I believe it was actually very balanced. On our hand we need to register our reception”.

MVP: Novica Bjelica (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza)

Sisley Volley against Prisma Taranto for the 11th round early match, before the Indesit Champions League’s Final Four which will see Treviso against Lodz in Poland.

A 3-0 that arrived despite Farina at home with the flu (he will be in Lodz), replaced by Ricci Petitoni, author of a good performance. A resting round ofr captain Papi too, Horstink playing on his behalf, while Prisma playes with all their players even though some of them are not at their best due to the flu.

Prisma starts well in the first two sets, with Vissotto stinging in attack, 15 points for the Brasilian, but Sisley keeps the contact at all times and as soon as they push on the accelerator, there is  nothing their opponents can do.

Incisive serves, 10 aces in total, and a wild Hubner, MVP with 9 points, 4 aces and 100% in attack, give Sisley the victory.

In the third set there is nothing to do for Taranto from the beginning. Fei hammers from behind the three metres, 17 points, and the whole teams looks like they are in a state of grace which hides the absences: it is 25-19 in the end and a 3-0 that allows Dal Zotto’s men to save precious energies for saturday.

Renan Dal Zotto (Sisley Treviso): “We need everyone at 110% that is why we spared Papi tonight, for the Championd League. I am very happy about the team’s effort and concentration”.

Leandro Vissotto (Prisma Taranto): “They are high and ready to go for the Champions League so winning here was impossible especially with Sisley fighting with this continuity. There is not much to do, we tried, we will try and make up for it in the next few matches which are a bit more affordable”.

MVP: Stefan Hubner (Sisley Treviso)
