Serie A1 TIM plays the third round of the second leg. On saturday the round will open with the TV early match on SKY Sport 2 at 18.30.
It will be the metropolis’ derby, Sparkling Milano against leader M. Roma Volley. Only one match played between the clubs, in the first leg which ended 3-0 for the Romans. Tomorrow, the two formations will give birth to an original post match, an “extra set” where supporters and players will have dinner together inside PalaLido.
Serniotti’s men will try and keep the leadership taken away from Cuneo last sunday. Bre Banca Lannutti will play at tough home test on sunday. Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza is coming (18.30 live on SKY Sport 2) who, in the past eight matches, has been defeated by Roma and Trento only. It will be the remake of the exciting playoffs semifinal of the last season and a tasty anticipation of the Indesit Champions League’s Play Offs taking place in a few days. Cuneo will try and get back in the championship after two consecutive defeats against Trento and Macerata. It will be match number 20 between the Clubs, 13 won by Cuneo and 6 by Piacenza.
Cimone Modena will host Andreoli Latina at PalaPanini, corsair in Padova last monday night. A success which lit up their safety hopes again and which warns Modena forced to a “marathon” in the Challenge Cup to get a pass to the quarter finals, obtained with the Golden Set.
Who will have to beat history is RPA-Luigi.Bacchi.it Perugia who will host Sisley Treviso: 18 matches played between them, 15 won by Treviso, only 3 by Perugia. Dall’Olio’s men will have to deal with a low period where they only won once in 9 matches and won no sets in the past three. In Perugia, the Italian chalmpions will come with the full team, with Cisolla and Hubner on court after resting on wednesday in the Champions League.
Prisma Taranto will have to fight against Antonveneta Padova in another away match. In the first leg the match was especially balanced, ending at tie break in favour of Bagnoli’s men. Great balance is expected on sunday too. The teams have collected opposite results in the previous round: Padova has been defeated in Latina and Taranto won at tie break in Corigliano. It’s Giuliani’s Famigliulo who is facing a tough home match against Lube Banca Marche Macerata, who demonstrated to have the qualities and the determination to live at the top of the standings permanently. For Lubr though, the question marks are not missing. Geric and Vermiglio have worked with the group in the week but not fully. In the middle, the couple Rodrigao-Lebl will be confirmed while setter Monopoli will be ready in case Vermiglio is not fit enough.
The third round of the second leg will be completed on Monday Night by Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari and Itas Diatec Trentino.
It will certainly be a high level challenge with two teams who collected more aces than anyone else this season, 79 and 75 respectively. But that is not it, Montichiari has the fourth best attack of the season while Trento has the fourth best blocking. To be seen is also the challenge between Gavotto and Kasiyski, currently 4th and 2nd in the Serie A1 TIM top scorers grid.

Sunday after sunday, Serie A2 TIm is getting more and more exciting. the standings, after 19 rounds, is divided in 3 separate parts. The top ones with the teams aiming at the Serie A1 TIM (Verona and Vibo Valentia), who is fighting for a place in the Play Offs and who is trying to avoid demotion.
The most consistent part of the standings sees 10 teams grouped within 6 points only. Castellana, Spoleto and Bassano on 27 points and they are the threshold between safety and demotion.
Seven points behind we have Pineto who is definitely on its way back up, while Cagliari, Avellino and Mantova have small chances to save themselves in the next few matches.
