Trento – The goal was close, the title could not have escaped. Today was its evening. An in the stands at PalaTrento the Italian flag appears. Never mind bad luck. The white&Red slice of Piacenza’s supporters is only cheering, they have learned bad and good luck from their idols.
The beginning seems to smile at Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza that taking advantage of Itas Diatec Trentino’s tension they go on 5-1 then 16-14. Trento get their muscles out and they start hitting from the nine metres with Nikolov and Kazyisky. The teams play hard on eachother and this first set is decided relying on the service. Itas does something more at blocking, but Piacenza does not let them take off. The final is once again down to nerves. Piacenza conquers 4 set balls but Trento turn things around and with a block by Jeronic they close at their first chance. This is when the match gets decided. Piacenza does not find the strength to react anymore and this hit appears to be a bit of a KO.
The second set is infact completely different, balanced only up to 6-6 then Itas indicates and takes off. In Piacenza reception decreases drastically and Marco Meoni is not able to free his mates attack from the opponents’ blocks, always in place at the right time. Trento does not leave any space for Piacenza anymore, they only make 3 mistakes and their game prooves to be dominating. Angelo Lorenzetti tries the usual card of replacements but Itas dos not let anyone surprise them and closes on 25-16.
The venue explodes, they can feel the party is close before the players do. Copra’s energy supply decreases as they go along, all their players have spent a lot in these playoffs and not only from a physical point of view. They are great co-stars in Trento’s fairytale though, so good that calling them “opponents” is belittleling them.
Trento start their run towards their first title again. The whole team plays according to Radostin Stoychev’s plan who, at his first year on an Italian bench, has spread an incredible amount of solidarity to his team, winning the title of Italian Champions after only 8 years in Serie A1TIM. Trento’s dreams start now. A moment after Matey Kazyiski’s spike, the finals MVP.

Sergio (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “We did everything we could but Trento played a great final, they have played in front of a great audience, but an applause also goes to our supporters who never gave up on us. This season is positive anyway: we played two finals, this one and the Champions League one, fighting on each ball”.

Angelo Lorenzetti (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “ We have thrown away the chance to win the first set, but we are aware that we gave a lot to this match and the whole series. We knew, after conquering two finals, that we would not have changed this season but only enriched it if it would have ended differently”.
Vladimir Nikolov (Itas Diatec Trentino): “I did not expect to win the championship at my first year, but during the press conference last summer I declared we were going for the Champions League qualifying. In the final, with such an audience, we only completed the task”.
Nikola Grbic (Itas Diatec Trentino): “ I belive the images talk for themselves. The key to the match was the first set. Piacenza was determined, they were playing very well, making no mistakes. I knew that once won that set, we were going towards victory”.

Whoever feels this sensation is likely to put more and more efford into it, whatever the battles could be. Even the political one”
