A special win worth the first place in the table

Trentino won in four sets against Macerata and took first place in the league table.

The first set was played at an outstanding level by Macerata, who did not miss a play and converted the clutch attacks with extreme ease. Omrcen, and Leble could not find their match. On the other side of the net, Grbic seemed out of it, slow, while it took a while for Kaziyski and Winiarski to settle down: 1-0 Macerata.

Trentino reacted in the second set putting in the effort needed in such games. Vissotto and Kaziyski started to put Matteo and Martino under pressure: 1-1. Trentino had the momentum and rushed off  in the third. Vissotto mixed good attacks with mistakes and the game remained tight. Then, Kaziyski took over with four beautiful points, full of technique and power, which led his team to a 2-1 lead. By then, Trentino was as organised and solid as when they won their last title. Grbic led an unbelievable 95% team attack that meant there was no way back for Macerata. Trentino proved once more it will be no easy task to come in their PalaTrento gym.

Radostin Stoytchev (Itas Diatec Trentino): “I liked the character the players showed tonight. At the top level, a couple of plays can change the game and I like the fact that my team fights hard against every opponent. We’re improving but we surely can and have to get better”.

Fef� De Giorgi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Trentino was more patient than us in the difficult and tight moments. On the contrary, we fell in the trap. We faced a very incisive team who had his attacking game flowing fine on the wings”.
