The game between Cuneo and Piacenza started with many changes in the respective starting six. Piacenza’s choices were dictated by the injuries while Prandi’s were strictly tactical. These proved to be efficient as Cuneo dominated from the start with 78% in attack in the first set. Cuneo started where they left off in the second but Zlatanov got his teammates back in it. Still, Cuneo was showed more expertise when playing the clutch points. Piacenza rushed to an 8-2 lead in the third, but there was little to do against Cuneo’s determination, intensity and belief in its ability. Wijsmans was elected MVP.
Francesco Biribanti (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We played like a true team, united, and we deservedly won. Our group is composed of 12 starters and that could be our strength to reach ambitious targets like the league title”.
Joao Paulo Bravo (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “There is little to say. After the first set easily won by our opponent, the game was decided on a couple of plays even though Cuneo proved it had something more”.
