First away victory for the black&silver
Milano grabs their first away victory in the championship beating Modena for 3-1 at PalaPanini. To prove the importance of the victory are the bookmakers who had Modena has a major favourite.
Spairani & Co. suffered in the first set, lost at 21, then conquered the secon and the third. The forth set, on 23-19 for the home team, seemed lost but with Samica’s 2 aces and Martino’s one plus Gardner’s points, Sparkling managed a real feat. A great team performance, again led by Samica with 18 points (4 aces) and Gabriel Gardner able to put 20 balls on the ground with 51% in attack.
Martino’s performance was decisive too especially his service (3 aces). Good for Travica in the starting six, who did well with 7 points.
Ricci changed the starting six from the latest matches starting with Travica-Gardner, the rest did not change with Samica-Martino spikers, Millar-Spairani MB’s and Vicini Libero.
2In the first ten minutes we did not play, it was like being at the theatre, then we got into the game – says Ricci. It has not been a match at a very high level but we have always been attacked by them. In the forth set it seemed difficult to win; they were serving aces and we were helped by luck.
These are important points given the next match, they give us a bit of a peace of mind”.
