TREVISO – In the second semifinal match played at the Palaverde, Sisley wins 3-1 against M. Roma Volley and goes ahead 2-0 in the series. After a first set in which Rome plays very well in blocking and serving, creating a lot of problems to Sisley (16-25), then Treviso starts to play as they know and easily wins the other sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-18). Like in the match at the PalaTiziano, Roma loses at the distance and receives huge breaks by Treviso especially thanks to a great match of Tencati (13 points for him).
In the 1st set Bagnoli starts with Vermiglio, Novotny spiker, on the other side Serniotti has Tofoli out because injured during the warming up (curl problems) and got replaced by young Zaytsev: after the beginning phase it is M. Roma to score the first break, 6-10 with 2 blocks by Mastrangelo. Sisley Volley has problems in passing and in building its game. Bagnoli tries also Ahmed, Horstink & Cisolla, but Rome keeps leading the game. So the first set goest to Rome with the score of 16-25.
Treviso starts really well in the second set; in the court Vermiglio-Novotny starts to play well but especially Alessandro Fei plays a big role in the set: 6 points, 3 consecutive, that carry Sisley Volley first on 9-6, then on 14-9, Rome reaction especially with Hernandez that tries to get the teams closer in the score (17-13) and with Savani that score an important ace and brings the score to 20-17. Winning point of Novotny, Molteni spikes out and Sisley flies to 23-17 and closes the set with Alessandro Fei (25-20).
Great start for Sisley: Fei blocks Hernandez for thel 4-1, ace of Tencati (7-3) Rome tries a reaction and recovers up to 12-10 but Treviso scores another important break: 16-12. Papi scores the 20-16 point and the set goes to Sisley after a winning point of Novotny ( 25-18).
Also in the 4th set Treviso plays much better, a spike of Novotny send Sisley ahead 9-5. A the second time out the gap is even bigger (16-10). Set will be over soon (25-18) and the match will go to Sisley hands.
Daniele Bagnoli (Coach Treviso): “We have to understand why we never start the match well. Beside this, I am very happy, also because we are working really well during the training sessions and we are getting better day by day. Very well also in this second match, well Vermiglio that is almost complitely recovered, but there is still a match to win before reaching the final”.
Roberto Serniotti (Coach Roma): “In the last two matches we have been making the same errors, we have to make a deep analysis of the situation and we have only 3 days to prepare the third match of the series. It is not an easy situation, we muat react now, semifinals are a great goal but we don’t want to stop here, it would be unfair toward ourselves and give it a go until the very end”.
Valerio Vermiglio (Treviso): “The path is still long, even if we are winning the series. M. Roma Volley can still give us huge problems and troubles, we have been good tonight to get back on track after a slow start, just like in Game1; it is good for now but we did not close the series yet, on Tuesday in Rome there will be another huge battle to face and we have to play with the same spirit and attitude shown today”.
