After over two hours of playing, it was Brasilian Ricardo with an ace from the nine metres, who interrupted the series of defeats which marked Monini’s journey in this last period of time, winning 3-2 against a direct competitor for safety: tiscali Cagliari.
A match with two faces: the one of the first few fractions, when Monini managed to weaken the opponents’s reception with their service, then finishing with a precise play and without mistakes.
In the third and fourth sets, Monini did not manage to keep their effectiveness up from the nine metres, despite keeping a good level of game, and made too many mistakes allowing Cagliaru to get back in the match and go to the fifth and final set.
Tie break won by Monini who got two very important points both from the standings point of view and the team’s spirit, allowing Mr Polidori’s men to face next week with some peace of mind preparing for Castellana Grotte’s away match.
