NOTES – audience 3000, takings 7500, set length: 23′, 23′, 23′, 26′, 17′; tot: 112′. Montichiari – Montichiari lines up setter Simone Tiberti rather than Luciano De Cecco gone to Argentina on tuesday. Roma sees Leonell Marshall instead of Marco Molteni. Young libero Giuseppe Zito debuts on court replacing injured Metodi Ananiev and Matteo Pesenti.
First set: following a balanced start, Roma gains a 4 points break (4-8) thanks with Marshall’s service (3 aces). They keep going till 21-25 also thanks to an unstoppable Ivan Miljkovic (8 points in this set). Second set: Roma is in serious difficulty and finds it hard to score points against a very determined Montichiari that serves well making it difficult for Roma to receive. Roberto Serniotti, coach, tries to stop that by using bench setter Paolo Tofoli but the situation does not change and it is 25-15 in the end. Third set: Andrea Semenzato comes on for Roma instead of Wytze Kooistra. Acqua PAradiso is struggling now, the continuity they showed in the previous set is now missing and they cannot attack successfully. Coscione can use all his bombers ending the set 17-25. Forth set: it is the most battled one, both teams go head to head and do not give up. They both lean on their bombers, Mauro Gavotto for Montichiari and I Miljkovic for Roma. Abdalla Ahmed comes in and shkes things up with 2 aces taking the team to 20-14. Montichiari takes off from here and wins the set 25-19. Tie break starts really badly for the home team 3 points behind (1-4). Montichiari hangs on and thanks to an unstoppable Veres and a mean Ahmed (serving) they go to 9-10. Acqua Paradiso does not give up but it is M. Roma that leads the match and closes it on 15-12.
Peter Veres (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca): “It was a good match. Losing at home is not pleasant but I am happy because even though we made quite a few mistakes we played well and we enteirtained our audience. I am pleased about being nominated the match mvp. Now we have to think about Piacenza, we are going there to win, then we will see”.
Manuel Coscione (M.Roma Volley): “I never won here since I left. I am very pleased about the 2 points. Ahmed surprised us and made it difficult for us especially at the break during the forth set. If it had not been for him maybe the match would have ended earlier… but that’s alright!”.
MVP Peter Veres (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari)

It is Sparkling Milano’s first victory in the Serie A1 TIM championship after a 2 hour battle against Lube Banca Marche Macerata. A victory gained with their teeth and their heart led by Martino (mvp) and Gardner; Samica top scorer with 15 points. Great performance for MB Ryan Millar too with 12 points and 67% in attack. But the whole team gave a fabulous performance. First set: balanced up to 12-12. Lube goes to 17-19. Wild Martino’s service gives the team the go ahead then it is balance again. It is 30-28 for Sparkling in the end. Second set: Milano goes to the second TTO 3 points ahead. Sparkling flyes on enthusiasm and ends it 25-21. Third set: MAcerata starts really well and Sparkling tries to stay behind but loses 19-25. Forth set: MAcerata tries to take off on 9-12 but Martino scores two points then Sparkling manages to go on 14-14. The end is on the edge. Mattera block Paparoni on 24-23 and Samica closes the set and the match (25-23).
Daniele Ricci (all. Sparkling Milano): “We showed our progress and we proved what we did from the second round. We have not just improved technically but mentally too because we have kept our concentration at all times and we fought for each and every point. In the first set we managed to go up to 28 then we won. Only Piacenza did that so far. The result gives us what we need to work happily in the few days before the next match”.
Ferdinando De Giorgi (coach Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We played on and off. In the first set we made a big mistake: we were ahead and we let them back in the game. After that we started worrying and we lost our fluency. This is a voleyball that does not allow to play like that. We need to concentrate on a better game and try to be less apprehensive, improving our technique. Everyone has problems anyway, even Milano”.
MVP Matteo Martino (Sparkling Milano)
