Macerata – It it the first 3-0 this season for Lube Banca MAcerata, and it is worth a lot, because for the first time the Club realises it is in play offs area after over a year, since they won the championship actually.
De Giorgi’s men beat Itac Diatec Trentino (25-21, 25-22, 25-22) mainly thanks to a good reception (63% despite Kaziyski’s and frineds’ heavy serves), together with some great digging (especially Paparoni in the first set and of course Corsano) who allowed inspired Vermiglio to alternate his strikers, almost all on a good day: great Igor Omracen, mvp, with 14 points and 50% positivity on 26 balls attacked; then just like in Piacenza MB’s Lebl and Geric who closed with 11 points and 4 points and 4 blocks (Lebl) and 8 points and 3 blocks (Geric, poisonous serves as usual); on the top of very respectful attack percentages.
Trento was betrayed by many mistakes, often naive at crucial times (many net touches) and on the ball in the seconmd set only, when forcing their serves the fill a 6 points gap, reaching 22-23: Grbic’s mistake will give the ball back to Lube who will manage to capitalise the break conquered at the beginning with an amazing Saraceni very tidy in the back (Paparoni’s repl.) and very effective at the front.

Ferdinando De Giorgi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “It was a good match, we have given some things away but overall the boys deserved some applauses. I am pleased, it was a very delicate match, these three points are vital to our place in the standing and for our peace of mind”.

Andrea Bari (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We have certainly played below our abilities also due to Lube. We have been chasing them in every set and every time we had the chance to turn things around we complicated our life with mistakes. Shame”.

MVP: Igor Omrcen (Lube Banca Marche Macerata)

Latina – Finally, Andreoli Latina’s first victory this season against RPA Perugia. After a busy week, Latina put their attitude on court and, especially in the first 2 sets, they kept their nerves. The first two fractions were decided right at the end in fact, with Andreoli Latina not losing it at vital moments like their opponents did, never taking advantage of their favourable situations.

In the third set Latina went well ahead straight away and kept iot that way until the end gaining those 3 points in the championship and entering the break in a good spirit.

Pupo Dall’Olio (Rpa-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia): «I expected Latina to come up with such a performance at some point so I warned my boys. We have never been able to fight them attitude wise, while when we had the chance we have been able to take advantage of their mistakes”.

Flavio Gulinelli (Andreoli Latina): «It was a victory that came out of all our hard work. Congratulations to all my boys, both the ones who played and the ones who did not but never stopped cheering their team mates. We are going on a break with a different spirit and this can only be good for us”.

MVP: Bruno Augusto Iorio Zanuto (Andreoli Latina)

Montichiari – After the Tiberti emergency (injured to his right hand ring finger), Australian Daniel Howard injured himself in Montichiari during the morning training, hit on his right eye and unable to play later., Velasco replaced him with Marcello Forni.

A battled first set with both teams hanging on thier own captains (Gavotto 8 points this set, Wijsmans 6). Too many serving mistakes for Acqua Paradiso, one of which at the end of the set with Sala bringing Cuneo on 25-26. With a great serve by Parodi, the opponents find it difficult to receive well and Wijsmans takes advantage closing the set 25-27.

Despite the victory, Prandi changes the starting six lining up MArlon, Rosso and Abbadi instead of Gonzalez, Parodi and Lasko (who will go back in at the end of the set) and it makes a difference straight away.
Bre Banca goes on 3-7, Acqua PAradiso tries to react and goes on 14-14. Cuneo is not intimidated and goes quickly on 20-24. A beautiful strike by Peter Veres postpones point 25 by very little and Lasko closes the set on 21-25.

In the third set Montichiari has a reaction. Great performance by their middle blockers Sala and Forni who contain Cuneo’s attack with punctual blocks. Captain Wijsmans makes a few mistakes on the other side. Cuneo starts well but Montichiari reaches 10-10 and stays ahead through the whole set closing with Sala’s block on 26-24.

The last set is dominated by Bre Banca Lannutti that thanks to Wijsmans (6 points), leads the game. Many home mistakes (4 serves) who manage to get to 10-10 but does not take advantage and Cuneo wins 22-25.

Andrea Sala (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari): “It would have been important to close this first part of the championship with a victory, especially at home. Cuneo is a team that plays very well and they have proved it. It is a shame about the first two sets when we did not play at our best. We have shown some attitude though because when at the end of a lost match 4500 clap their hands it means the team has given everything and it shows”.

Manius Abbadi (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “I am very pleased about being at the top of the standings and playing a good match. After the break we have to get back to our full potential and carry on like this. We are playing well and with attitude which is very important”.

MVP: Simone Tiberti (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari)

Taranto – Lost opportunity for Prisma, great attitude by Copra. This is the Taranto – Piacenza verdict for this 8th round of Serie A1 TIM.
Taranto wins the first set easily and after a long battle they go on 2-0.
Piacenza starts low, making mistakes, lacking in their important players Zlatanov and Simenov especially. Taranto on the other hand show a great volley, essential but also various in attack and the opponents’ digging suffers from it a lot.
Copra’s class helps the team recover giving the set a beautiful ending but the vital moment which makes the difference in the match happens in the 4th set.
Taranto takes advantage of Nagy’s good and goes on 23-19 but Ventceslav Simeonov is serving and brings Piacenza on 24-24 cutting the home team’s legs completely. Meoni closes the set and Copra goes up psycologically: the tie break is almost a piece of cake for Piacenza who closes oùeasily on 15-10. Taranto gains one points on Corigliano towards safety but loses two on Latina, while Piacenza can look at the next month with confidence for having found victory again.

Angelo Lorenzetti (Copra Piacenza): “We have made some progress. We have come out of the hole we were in and we are starting to see the light again. I hope we will be able to bring continuity to the start of the championship after this break and climb the standings”.

Michele Totire (Prisma Taranto): “What happened in the 4th set was decisive but congratulations to Piacenza who never stopped believing in it, even when they thought the match was lost. At tie break I had to replace Castellano who had a shoulder complaint and they took off on their enthusiasm.
We should have kept calm but we lost it instead and Piacenza was able to take advantage of our indecisions”.

MVP: Ventceslav Simeonov (Copra Piacenza)
