NOTES – Spectators 1700, takings 4500, set length: 47′, 25′, 27′, 27′, 17′; tot: 143′. ROMA – Volleyball comes back to viale Tiziano, but the venue is not obviously ready to host the show. On 17-23 of the first set, the lights go off but the story says that M. Roma Volley suffers against Itas Diatec Trentino. It is a different kind of defeat because it comes at the end of 5 sets (18-25, 19-25, 27-25, 26-24, 13-15) with a Roma who is good at reacting when 2 sets behind but still hasn’t got the killer instinct , when at the fifth set they could close the match being 12-10 ahead. Trento wins the first set 18-25. Roma keeps up in teception (60% team) but struggles in attack, with Savani and Miljkovic on 20% and 29%. Not even Kooistra going in for Semenzato and a sudden black out on 17-23 that puts the match on hold, manage to raise the percentages. For Trento, a great performance by Bulgarians Kaziyski (5 points) and Nikolov (3 points), closing with 50% positivity each. The second set is no different. Serniotti tries to put Molteni in for Savani but it is not enough (19-25). Kaziyski is the bomber. he scores 8 points closing with 805 in attack. M. Roma’ percentages are the other way around from the first set: they do well in attack especially with Savani and Miljkovic bad in reception (23% team). Trento gets two aces and Roma makes 5 mistakes serving. Back on court with Savani for Molteni again, who injures his ankle. The third set is based on nerves. M. Roma has little to lose and they slowly manage to find their game again. Attack and reception start working. Savani gives his team 7 points and does well in the back. Marshall has more continuity than the others. Nothing great but enough to be on Trento’s back, who makes too many serving mistakes (5). Thanks to Semenzato serving the romans go on 22-21. At the 4th set point, with a block by Miljkovic, they manage to win the third set (27-25). In the 4th set Miljkovic takes care of things. The serb scores 10 points and closes on 71% in attack. The reception is suffering but keeps going. Henno , very good up to that moment, suffers more than anybody else. Trento’s attack is mainly in the hands of Kaziyski. Della Lunga, called to replace Winiarski, closes the set on 78% perfect reception. Roma closes at the third set point (26-24). Tie break decides the match then. Roma starts well, following the last two sets. But they have to deal with Kaziyski’s service. His serves allow his team to recover and take over. The guest team closes the set and wins the match.
Roberto Serniotti (M. Roma Volley): “Tonight we made up for our technical limits with our attitude. We paid for the long travels and the consequent lack of training. With the Cups we need to learn to live with. We cannot do that yet, given that after two European matches we lost the following two matches in the championship: with Treviso and today with Trento. At least we had a reaction in the third set”.
Nikola Grbic (Itas Diatec Trentino): “They have been good at crucial times with great serves. I have to compliment thrm for how they recovered. Still, this was a good victory, despite the tie break. We cannot but be satisfied. Their attack could solve the matches by themselves. We could have closed it at the third set but we did not. Still I am satisfied”.
ACQUA PARADISO GABECA MONTICHIARI – FAMIGLIULO CORIGLIANO 0-3 (22-25, 22-25, 23-25)

REFs: Luca Sobrero, Fabrizio Padoan.
NOTES – Spectators 2800, takings 4700, set length: 27′, 25′, 24′; tot: 76′. MONTICHIARI – Amazing deal for Famigliulo Corigliano who beats Acqua Paradiso Gabeca in Montichiari. Three important points for Giuliani’s men and their safety, an unexpected stop for the bresciani. Corigliano’s determination makes the difference in the first set. The guests are ahead on both TTO’s, managinf that really well and closing on 22-25. Acqua Paradiso Gabeca is not very effective and they suffer in the back and only expressing their potential in attack with their two middle blockers. (Sala 67% and Howard 100%). In the second set Acqua Paradiso Gabeca takes off thanks to Ahmed who scores three consecutive aces. Raymaekers does not like it and thanks to his poisonous serves he takes his team on 5-5. The set continues based on balance even though Montichiari struggles more than expected, especially with their attack (6 blocks by Corigliano). They go on 22-22. It is Giuliani’s men who win the set with Biribanti’s attack on 22-25. In the third and final set Famigliulo Corigliano keep their attitude and determination they had at the beginning of the match; they play with concentration and enthusiasm while Montichiari struggles to keep up with them. Acqua Paradiso Gabeca, loses the rhythm completely at the end of the set giving Corigliano the full victory. The set closes on 23-25.
SISLEY TREVISO – COPRA NORDMECCANICA PIACENZA 1-3 (25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 20-25)

NOTES – Spectators 1900, takings 6700, set length: 25′, 28′, 24′, 23′; tot: 100′. TREVISO – Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza wins at PalaVerde in Treviso. The final score is 1-3 for Lorenzetti’s team who conquers three very important points to qualify for the TIM Cup. Treviso has to give up on Stefan Hubner with a back problem and using Fei as little as possible: Dal Zotto lines up Cisolla diagonal and Hortink spiker. On the other side, Piacenza does not miss Meoni from the second set. Boninfante manages the team really well. The match seems to start in the right way for Treviso that wins the first set 25-21. Sisley express themselves on high levels both in attack and serving; Piacenza hardly worries the home team. The music changes radically in the following set. Copra Nordmeccanica does a U turn and Zlatanov (26 tot points) takes his team mates by the hand. From the second set onwards, Piacenza is able to start with great determination all the time, scoring important points for the end of the sets. Starting fro the second set, Piacenza scores 10 points blocking and 6 serving but Lorenzetti’s men are also good at digging. This is the key to the match, with Copra Nordmeccanica winning the sets on 23-25, 21-25, 20-25.
Renan Dal Zotto (Sisley Treviso): “I cannot understand how we could play a good first set then suffer like that from the second set. We suffered their service a lot then we did not manage to create anything, not even the most simple things. Fei and Hubner’s absences cannot be an excuse because we played well without them in the first set”.
Angelo Lorenzetti (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “Sisley was struggling and we knew it; with this victory we proved that we can be the stars of this championship too. In the first set we started slowly, then we loosened up and served really well, which we normally do in training but not in the match. A great hug to Boninfante who replaced Meoni amazingly.
ANTONVENETA PADOVA – SPARKLING MILANO 3-2 (25-20, 16-25, 25-22, 28-30, 15-11)

SPARKLING MILANO: Vicini (L), Millar 10, Nikic, Samica 10, Bendandi 1, Martino 20, Rosalba 3, Spairani 5, Travica 5, Gardner 19, Giombini 1. Non entrati Cortina. Coach Ricci Daniele.
REFs: Omero Satanassi, Fabrizio Saltalippi.

PADOVA – Great emotions at PalaNet in a challenge that had entertainment and sport as the winners. Perazzolo and Martino, rising stars of the Italian Volleyball, face eachother for the first time in Serie A1 TIM. A challenge that ends on 20-18 for the player from Milan. Back to the match, Padova shows to be concentrated in the first set, despite the Corigliano’s match and Rob Bontje is the bomber. Despite that, Gardner only gives a taste of his potentials which will come out later. The set closes on 25-20. In the second set Padova loses it completely: Garghella lets too many balls slide down his arms but it is Milan’s blocking that does not give them a break. Gardner helps his team to reach 11-21 which says it all. 16-25 in the end. In the third set the home team wakes up and Luis Diaz comes out. Davide Tovo signs the 25-22. The 4th set is the most beautiful one. Gardner and Martino are Milanos’ pain in the neck. Diaz and Platenik are an item. Even Francesco De Marchi goes in, just to give his team an important ace. The final is for Milano though who finds its strength with Nikic and closes on 28-30. Tie break continues as the previous set, but Esko takes the Veneti by the hand, recovering two great balls. The final is 15-11. The 3-2 gives both teams well deserved points.
Bruno Bagnoli (Antonveneta Padova): “The boys played with their hearts even tough we were not as effective in attack today. Now we need to go back to work for the next two matches because we need to keep our concentration high and in good shape”.
Daniele Ricci (Sparkling Milano): “It is a shame and we did not take advantage of the right times to close the match, but I am satisfied with our performance. Everyone knows playing in Padova is not easy for anyone”.

PERUGIA – RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia is defeated by Cimone Modena at tie break but Jan Stokr’s injury is the real problem for Perugia. On 13-11 in the fifth set the diagonal player dislocates his ankle coming down from a block. And Milano is coming to PalaEvengelisti on Wednesday. First set won by RPA who takes off after the first TTO (21-19). Great Robert Kromm (100% attack), vital Jan Stokr (7 points) and when Modena seems to be scary, Vujevic arrives and it is 25-23. In the second set Cimone evens up thanks to a good Andre’ but especially thanks to Perugia’s mistakes. 22-25 in the end. The third set closes on 29-27. Shame for Dall’Olio’s team who was 21-16 ahead. In the forth set Goran Vujevic takes the lead and Perugia re opens the match. 25-22. Everyone to tie-break. Modena wins 13-15.
Francesco Dall’Olio (RPA-Luigibacchi.it Perugia): “You can tell the boys are coming from a period lacking in satisfactions but we found a good team on and off and that is what I wanted especially waiting for Milano and Padova”.
Andrea Giani (Cimone Modena): “We knew Perugia would have been difficult but we got important points for the TIM Cup qualifying”.

TARANTO – Lube Banca Marche Macerata wins at Palafiom in Taranto after a two faces match. It looked like an easy task for Perugia playing a simple but effective volleyball in the first two sets, taking advantage of Prisma’s many mistakes, going for a 0-3 like they did last week. Prisma, throwing Pereu in for Castellano, finds a better tactic, making less mistakes and allowing Vissotto to be unstoppable. Taranto goes even and on 11-11 at tie break. Then Paparoni’s spike, Swiderski’s block and Paparoni’s ace launch Macerata towards the two points. Lube won the first two sets based on their service and a good reception well led by Paparoni. Prisma gets nervous and makes mistakes. In the third set Lattari and Pereu show the team can still play and thanks to Vissotto (7 points and 78% in attack) they get back in. Pereu gets even more confidence in the 4th set. Tie break is won by Lube’s lucidity.
Radamès Lattari (Prisma Taranto):”This point represents a victory for us. I have seen great improvements on a technical-tactical point of view which make me hope for the future. Pereu? My compliments to him, he got into the match straight away and did not let his emotions take over”.
Fefè De Giorgi (Lube Macerata):” I think this match gave positive signs for both teams. Taranto is always a difficult grounds and we know that. After winning the first two sets we went down and suffered their pressure”.
