CUNEO – Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo wins the fifth set and conquers Game 5.
New starting six for Bre Banca Lannutti: Wijsmans opposite player replace Anderson, Curti middleblocker replace Cozzi. Platenik takes the spot as spiker in the usual Wijsmans position.
Lube Banca Marche starts with the usual starting six. Cuneo in the first set is ahead since the begining and thanks to Giba and Wijsman the team close the set in its favour for 25-19 with 7 team blocks (only one for Macerata).
Second set sees a Lube with heaps of pression given by Cuneo attacks: 9-4. Peter Platenik shows all his will to play and he’s even able to block the powerful Milijokvic. When the score reaches 16-11 De Giorgi replaces Geric with Ravellino, but Lube made also a lot of serving mistakes and allows Cuneo to win also the second set for 25-16. Five blocks for Cuneo, none for Macerata.
In the third set eventually Lube finds back its game. Sintinis handle better the team passing, Coscione sets too much to Giba with a clearly sore knee. Prandi replace Omrcen with Cozzi. At the end of set, two Geric blocks will be crucial to give the set to Macerata for 22-25.
Fourth set is a true blue fight: Cuneo wants Game 5 and Macerata seeks the tie break. Prandi’s team, carried by the 3700 people in the arena, is ahead 16-14. Some Cuneo attacks mistakes sends the team to 18-18. The tension is rising up and Cuneo is still ahead 23-23 thanks to an Omrcen ace. Wijsmans mistake (23-24), Giba point (24-24). Milijkovic attack (24-25), Sintini mistake (25-25), Anderson serve error (25-26). Milijkovic net fault (26-26), Curti serving error (26-27), Wijsmans point (27-27); Herpe attack (27-28), Milijkovic serve errors (28-28), Platenik does the same (28-29) and eventually an Omrcen mistake gives the set to Macerata.
In the fifth set De Giorgi bets on Paparoni (Dennis on the bench). Cuneo is the first team to score a little break (6-4). Change of the court when the score is 8-6. When Wijsmans blocks Milijkovic (13-10) the match is virtually over. Other two Macerata mistakes and the game is won by Cuneo. Next Friday at the PalaBaldinelli in Osimo Game 5 will decide who will face Sisley Treviso in the Title Final.
Denis said: “We hoped we could close the series in Game 4, but tonight our team didn’t play very well and made too many mistakes. Good for them. Everything will be decided on Friday.”
Silvano Prandi delcares: “We have not been perfects. Tonight I dared two changes in the usual normal six, either Platenik and Curti paid back my choice. We deserved to reach Game 5.”
Valerio Curti (Cuneo middleblocker): “It’s true that Platenik and myself came from the bench. But our team is an amazing group and tonight we prooved it”.
