The World League group phase is over, the Final Six in Florence from July 16 to 20 is next. Last weekend, Baranowicz, Kovar, Parodi, Zaytsev and spiker Randazzo, who Macerata still own, were defeated twice with Italy on a 3-1 score as Brazil took revenge on early losses in the competition. Still, the Italians remained top of the group (tied with Iran but with better set quotient).
Meanwhile, in group B, the Serbian team of Marko Podrascanin and Dragan stankovic swept the USA in the first encounter before losing the second 3-1. Serbia finished third and will miss out on the Final Six. In the final act of the event, Italy was drawn with USA and the winner of the Australian final four (to be played Friday and Saturday). The other group is composed of Iran, Russia and Brazil. The top two of each group will go through to the semis.
